What Finding Job Did To Me

.Kamous production
To have a job here in Nigeria is hot cake. The only means you can get a job is when you know someone in a position. We call this Man Know Man. There is always a godfather in the aspect of finding a better job. Sometimes most people now tend to join politics as this would give them the opportunity to go for the job that pays them a lot of money. Knowing someone in position is important right here in Nigeria. To those like us who do not know anyone, we are on our own.

This brings me to my case in Nigeria here. I was not having a job and so I decided to take my result to a company of my choice and I decided to do it on my way as a female.

I tried hard but was somehow not successful. I took my result to a company who has called me to come for an interview. I was so happy because I have made several trials but came out not successful. With my result and my qualifications, I'm steadily and extremely qualified but just with the situation of Nigeria and godfatherism, I was disqualified.

So, I went to this company for interview and was one of the best after checking my result. Now I was happy that I have gotten a job. I was waiting for them to send me a letter or to call me to resume work but all my waiting was to no avail. I left the job and went again for another one. When I was coming back, I saw a sign post with vacancy notification. It states that "vacancy for the post of G.M. After seeing this, I got carried away and went straight to the company. I knocked the gate and behold and young Hausa man opened the gate and ask "Can I help you?". I responded Yes. I saw the signpost outside saying that this company needed a GM. He responded that of course we needed a GM because the first one has retired and the company needs another one to replace the former one. I was so happy after hearing this.

Do you know the meaning of MD. It means managing director. This means the company needed a managing director to fill up the space of the former one. I was so excited.

I went to the company the next day to submit my credentials and then the gate man told me he would be the one to interview me. My mouth was widely opened. How would a gate man interview me? This was a mess and hope it is not what I'm thinking?

At least I'm the GM here and I have resigned. My boss needs another GM to take over. Are you ready for the job or not? I don't need a soothsayer to tell me the meaning of MD. This is Gateman

I ran for my dear life....

Hahaha did they actually wanted to hire a female for the position of a gateman? So funny 😅

Our country is so messed up that a job to find has turned into a connection thing.

Like what they say, you have to know someone that know someone to get good jobs in Nigeria 😅

It's good you ran for your life but honestly, that was so awkward... They could have just told you a female doesn't do the work of a gateman but I guess it happens in that particular company.

Thanks for posting to our community!

Running for my life was the best option for me. To be sincere, he knew that female cannot fit for that position

Hey, @abigail04. This is a very nice post but it gives a serious feeling of not enough. It could use more punchlines and jokes in the middle and more words in general, the way it is set up currently feels more like a long one-liner.

Just some advice to keep in mind for the future.
