POB as a job: is it possible? [English/Portuguese]
How Can It Be True?
Saturday we all saw an impressive spike in POB price, when it jumped to 10 HIVE. It had been until then somewhat quiet, at 1.4 HIVE, and after the very expressive buy order it corrected to 1.67 HIVE. Yesterday I saw it hovering around 1.77 and today, to my disbelief, it is at 2.28 HIVE!
Perhaps I'm shocked because I'm new to dealing with altcoins, perhaps I'm new to Hive and this is nothing compared to previous successful tokens. All I know is that I joined POB about 12 days ago, last week I had already earned and staked USD$27 worth of POB and in a weekend suddenly that amount is now worth USD$40!
I know that in absolute value that is almost irrelevant, but when you take into consideration the growth potential that entails and that I really like writing in POB and don't intend to stop it anytime soon, then suddenly a question arises: if I keep working and staking all my earnings, will I, anytime soon, be able to live off of my work at Proof Of Brain?!

Having motivation to wake up everyday, knowing you're part of something you appreciate, knowing that by working hard you are contributing directly to that something, helping it grow and develop is the holy grail of jobs. Anybody that has ever thought about their professional of financial plan in life has thought about this.

When I work on my financial plan in POB, drawing out the spreadsheets, making predictions I always think "one day I'll be able to focus only on the posts" but 5 minutes later I'm already back to being Mr. Grumpy Pants, saying to myself, "Yeah, yeah, maybe... Now go back to work and stop daydreaming..."
But this weekend's price rise made me start taking this possibility more seriously, will I REALLY be able to live off of my work writing at POB??

Hopeful Reality or Really Hopeful?
In theory, yes. All the incentives and tendencies are, for now, aiming towards exponential growth, which means that, ceteris paribus², in a matter of months POB will be my main source of income. Which would be incredible, literally. It literally seems too good to be true.
Unfortunately I'm not an oracle to know what's gonna happen, but I've seen enough to know I'm sure I'll wanna be here to see what's gonna happen, if POB will fly high and far or if it will chase the sun and crash into the see³.

Como Pode Ser Verdade?
No sábado, todos nós vimos um aumento impressionante no preço do POB, quando saltou para 10 HIVE. Estava até então um pouco quieto, a 1,4 HIVE, e após a ordem de compra muito expressiva corrigiu para 1,67 HIVE. Ontem vi girando em torno de 1,77 e hoje, para minha descrença, está em 2,28 HIVE!
Talvez eu esteja chocado porque sou novo em lidar com altcoins, talvez eu seja novo no Hive e isso não seja nada comparado aos tokens de sucesso anteriores. Tudo o que sei é que entrei no POB há cerca de 12 dias, na semana passada já havia ganhado e apostado US$27 em POB e em um fim de semana, de repente, essa quantia agora vale US$40!
Eu sei que em valor absoluto isso é quase irrelevante, mas quando você leva em consideração o potencial de crescimento que isso acarreta e que eu realmente gosto de escrever em POB e não pretendo parar tão cedo, de repente surge uma pergunta: se eu continuar trabalhando e apostando todos os meus ganhos, poderei, em breve, viver do meu trabalho no Proof Of Brain ?!

Mas o aumento de preço deste fim de semana me fez começar a levar essa possibilidade mais a sério. Será que REALMENTE poderei viver do meu trabalho escrevendo no POB ??

Esperançosa Realidade ou Realmente Esperançoso?
Em teoria, sim. Todos os incentivos e tendências são, por enquanto, voltados para o crescimento exponencial, o que significa que, ceteris paribus², em questão de meses POB será minha principal fonte de renda. O que seria incrível, literalmente. Parece literalmente bom demais para ser verdade.
Infelizmente não sou um oráculo para saber o que vai acontecer, mas já vi o suficiente para saber, tenho certeza que vou querer estar aqui para ver o que vai acontecer, se POB vai voar alto e longe ou se vai perseguir o sol e colidir com o oceano³.

Have you thought about diversifying your income so you don't have to strictly rely on POB?
Crypto is volatile and gives many opportunities but with that you can also gain a lot.
Personally, I am also investing in passive crypto income opportunities so that I have options and a back up.

Do not rely your earning on cryptocurrency though you can make money from it. It is better to secure you cryptocurrency asset by dividing into offline business. So you will spend you daily needs from your offline business. If you rely your earning from cryptocurrency like hive blogging, you will lose your asset because you will spend your crypto asset for daily needs.
POB as a job is possible but you will find it regret when the price of POB gets lower while you have no fiat in cash. Then, you will sell your POB asset. Cryptocurrency is very volatile. When POB regains to higher price, you have lost your asset at lower price.
I understand your point, and you are right, is it volatile, it is uncertain, but there's some important context I left out. Our fiat currency here in Brazil is dissolving in the rain with inflation, 1 or 2 POB can now pay for a simple meal already. It only takes 250 POB a month to beat the minimum wage.
So yes, is it volatile, uncertain, but with the endless insane lockdowns that are going on here having a normal job isn't guaranteed either. But I won't beat all my coins in the same horse, of course. I'll remain skeptical.
My plan is only to reply on POB a bit to back me up and look for better, specialized jobs in my area of expertise, that way I diversify but at the same time can rely on one to support the other... and work on two things that I love in the process!
after on the crypospace for sometime now, I don't think we are quite there yet as this token can be very volatile.
While it good to wish and hope price keeps increasing, we also have to be ready for whatever circumstance that play out.
POB shows great potentials but if ever I'm to consider it as a job, i would have other serious investment online and offline. Wouldn't want to slip into a state of regrets if things work out as envisaged

Potentially. However, I would not use the earnings from my blogging to pay my expenses. It is better to let your tokens accumulate in staking. Then, if there is an investment opportunity, live off that income instead.
For example, I have Hive delegated on dlease.io for which I get paid daily. Those earnings are taken out and converted to LTC or Dash. However, what I earn from blogging, curating, and commenting stays on my account and continues to grow. In time, I will have more and more Hive that I can lease out, which increases my income.
To be fair, my earnings here are nowhere close to meeting my expenses. My job covers my expenses. Therefore, I have the luxury of time to wait for these things to grow in a few years.
I think, long term, stake and let it grow. You'll have a much more reliable income that does not depend on you writing.

Oh yeah, definitely! Staking and hodl forever hahaha I would only take some to pay for expenses if less than half covered it all, that way the staking would continue and I would have more time to work of other things like applying for better jobs, which takes time and money, or writing more, writing better and interacting with the community.
