AskLeo - Is HIVE To Be Considered a Store of Value?

I have started reading The Bitcoin Standard book and in the first chapters of the book the author bisects a bit the history of money, why we need it, what is good and what is bad money and what's to be considered a store of value.

Gold used to be a hell of a store of value for thousands of years and some around us are still looking at it that way, but for how long? I guess until the digital era has finally settled and humanity will realize gold will not have much use or value anymore.

Bitcoin is 54011.7% up since 2013 when exchanges started to pop up and we somehow have a track of BTC's price, that number making it well positioned to be considered a store of value... It is something that has rather appreciated over time than doing the opposite.

What about HIVE, is it to be considered a store of value?

HIVE is just 1087.7% up over the past two years since we've forked from Steem and I'd say that it is doing great considering that it has a way shorter history that Bitcoin has. But what makes it indeed a store of value?

In my opinion it is functionality in the industry that gives it a ton of value. Many other cryptos are thousand percentages up since their inception, but how much do these projects deliver... The sad truth is that probably 90% of the crypto projects we have right now are doing nothing.

Same as they did in 2017...

Meanwhile Hive is on a different level. There's development taking place and that is for sure reflected in price. Today's spike was nothing but a Korean pump as most of the volume came from Upbit, but nevertheless, HIVE has managed to hold well after its ATH.

It's probably immature to say if an asset/currency being just two years old is a store of value or not, but my take is that HIVE is in the process of becoming as such, especially during these days when WEB3 becomes so hyped about. What do you guys think?

Thanks for attention,
Adrian

I guess you could consider HIVE as a store of value but I tend to look at it more as a utility token. With all the development happening here and the community we have here, we do have value so long as things don't really change too much.
