AskLeo - Is "The Next Splinterlands" In Works?

avatar

I have to admit that I've missed the train with Splinterlands. It's my own fault of not paying attention to the data and posts dedicated to this game. I came late to the party with Leofinance as well, so I can say I have a history with that. Maybe next time I'll do better.

@splinterlands is taking #playtoearn to the next level for many around the world and from an earning perspective it has been a great game to invest your time, and some cash in it. I can't say, from what I saw on some videos and in game screenshots that the fun factor is there for Splinterlands, but it's a money making game nevertheless.

Crypto has exceeded its status of "another tradable asset" and proof of that is DeFi, NFTs and the #playtoearn powered by blockchain gaming trend. We no longer use cryptos just to swing trade, invest in and HODL, or whatever... They really have more valences these days.

The industry is still in its early stages, thus there will be more games like Splinterlands to come, but you have to be an early adopter to make a difference by using these games. I was wondering though, is there a next Splinterlands in works?

I haven't read anything lately about any game being developed on Hive, or outside of Hive, that could replicate what Splinterlands or Axie Infinity has done. From what I read you can literally spend AXS to certain merchants in some Asian countries and that's awesome. Making a living from gaming "en masse" is of unprecedent.

If anyone knows anything about a "new Splinterlands" built on Hive or outside it, please share it in the comments section.

Thanks for attention,
Adrian

  1. It's not too late on #Splinterlands. It's just getting started. Sure, the insane buy-a-card-for-a-nickel-and-watch-it-go-to-$100 days might be gone, but there is so much still coming that I think it's definitely worth getting involved. Land hasn't even been implemented yet and there is another 9 months of a FREE airdrop. You don't need to put much in to at least get FREE tokens for the next 9 months, which should really limit your downside and give you a chance for a pretty massive upside. Consider Axie Infinity has a market cap over $7B. Splinterlands is at $113M right now. Lots of room to grow....
  2. #dCrops is starting to add to its initial development. Another game you can get involved with here at the very early stages and see what happens. It doesn't feel like it's got the massive upside that Splinterlands does, but the game is just getting started. If the development continues (which it is) it could see some major interest over the next few months as well.
  3. Exode is about as ambitious as it gets and that one is still very, very early. The wait might be longer but it could end up being the biggest of them all if @elindos builds it the way he plans. And with the success of Splinterlands, there will be plenty of people willing to give it a shot so if he succeeds, the sky could be the limit there as well.

Like I said, it's definitely not too late. Play2Earn is just getting started. I'm sure the market will 100x or more over the next couple years.

I think Splinterlands still has potential - there are millions of players out there who has no idea it exists.

It does suck when you missed the boat! But in my opinion, i think the @risingstargame will be the next big one! It cost Zero investment to get started, and you can reinvest your earnings back into the game to grow! Of course if you do jumpstart your own gameplay with a few hive here and there, it will be more feasible. If you want a hot tip, trade some hive for starbits and start your road to play to earn!

You know, you shouldn't say that you missed the train on Splinterlands. As you said, you joined LeoFinance late (as did I), and I believe you are doing quite well here.

I also joined a couple of Hive games well after they launched (years after), and I still think they have a good, maybe great potential. Not sure if Splinterlands-like, but none the less, never say I'm too late in these early days of crypto, unless you think it's a scheme or something. The growth is there for many projects. And for Splinterlands there is still a lot of growth ahead.

@Dagger112 pointed out two games in their incipient forms (although Exode has been around for quite some time, I probably bought a few cards for it over a year ago in a presale).

Third mention of Exode. Must be something with it.

I actually played it. It's quite exciting, even if it's not finished. And the gameplay is superior to many other incipient blockchain games.

There's a few upcoming games that look promising but I don't know full ETA on them yet. Mainly the two I'll be looking at are

  • Exode - however it needs some work to make it easier otherwise the learning curve to get involved I thinks going to be too high and make it not grow
  • MuTerra - looks like it could take off once launched as it seems easier.

What I would love to see is a stupid simple game like Farmers world from wax here on Hive I think that would do very well and is extremely easy and passive which is what made it so popular.

Hahaha! Fun factor not there yet for you? Easy to say when there's no other game in town! That being said I respect your opinion, I play Upland and think the fun factor is bad. I really enjoy Splinterlands though and I'm not the only one.

I would love to see a story mode appear one day.

In an ideal world, in a few years, a tactics game would be released with a select lineup of Splinterlands cards that would cross over from one game to another. You know? Like Tactics Ogre or FF tactics? Or even something closer to Fire Emblem.

In a couple of years we will probably have something like that. The metaverse sounds promising as well. Tons of potential ahead.

Yes! Also, @aggroed stated his intention of eventually releasing a new game in a recent AMA. I am sure that it would be a SL spinoff.

I think the most successful blockchain game is the Sorare. If you like football, then this fantasy game is perfect for any fan. You feel that every dollar you throw into this game doubles in a few days. It's based on ethereum and I'm really stuck with it like thousands of people. If you want to register, it is better to do it through a referral in order to win your first value card for free. My link is this if you are interested in entering the game. sorare.com/r/jkernel
You can also read my article to understand what I mean in terms of profit. https://leofinance.io/@jkernel4/sorare-the-future-of-profitable-blockchain-games
