AskLeo - What's The Next Big Thing To Get Tokenized?

avatar

It was in early 2018 when I found out about Actifit, and tokenizing something as mundane as walking was outstanding to me. I had been into crypto for a few months until I joined Hive, but at that time, I couldn't envision much of what is taking place in crypto right now.

Actifit made me think of this concept called "tokenization of everything," which is somehow more like a dreamland than a reality bound to ever get materialized. But thinking of all sorts of activities that can get tokenized makes me believe that the abundance era @taskmaster4450 mentioned for the first time a few years ago might come to fruition through crypto.

Some are talking about real estate getting tokenized, others envision rideshares such as Uber getting tokenized, while only a few are talking about tokenized identities. Having access to so-called decentralized economies through tokenization will positively impact developing countries' access to this so-called age of abundance.

#PlayToEarn and #MoveToEarn have been the most proliferating and renowned tokenized activities in the crypto world throughout the whole past bull market, and Splinterlands is probably one of the most played blockchain games built on the Hive blockchain.

I have not played it so far. I am actually not much into gaming. The last time I played a game was probably 15 years ago or more, and I was never good at any game I played, although I loved Need for Speed.

What I noticed regarding #PlayToEarn games is that they lack the fun factor, and I'm not the only one publicly saying that. The way I see it, you're not much involved in such games aside from buying NFTs and putting these to work somehow. You don't get to "kick a ball, shoot a rifle, or drive a vehicle" in the digital realm of such games.

The avatar (your identity) of such games is more like a spectator than an active gamer. However, the gaming industry is huge. According to the latest data from Newzoo, the industry is expected to continue to grow, with over $218 billion in revenue predicted by 2024.

The rise of mobile gaming and the emergence of new technologies such as virtual and augmented reality are expected to drive this growth, along with the increasing popularity of esports and the continued growth of the PC and console gaming markets.

Games such as FIFA, NFS, and whatever Play Station, EA Sports, and other gaming moguls have released so far for their users or plan to release in the future will attract a lot of users. Imagine something like tokenized FIFA...

I don't have a business model on how that would work yet, but I can clearly see many players from around the world sitting on their backsides for hours and hours a day, kicking the ball on some digital playing field. If their performance were somehow monetized through a tokenized in-game economic system, this would be the next level of tokenization, in my opinion.

When video game makers like Play Station and others tokenize some of their most renowned games, crypto will boom like nothing you can imagine. What do you think, though? What's the next big thing to get tokenized?

Thanks for your attention,
Adrian

They'll tokenise our DNA, and before you know it, Pfizer will own the code to clone you.....

although I loved Need for Speed.

I thought about this just this evening. A tokenized car racing game like NFS, but then again, I quickly realized that it’s going to be like every other nft game where it’d require upgrades to level up compared to skill and definitely whales will take up the top positions like every other nft game
