Twitter Once Again "Reinventing Hive"

avatar

It's amazing seeing all these crypto influencers looking at this Bitcoin tipping feature of twitter like the wheel is being invented before their eyes. The wheel has been already invented and it's spinning at quite a pace. It's name is Hive and we already have DeFi on it...

Pompliano and the others alike wouldn't know about it as they're happily entangled in WEB 2.0 although portraying themselves as blockchain technology proponents. If in that position, why the hell none is doing a minimal research and find about Hive?...

It was announced recently that twitter is testing Bitcoin tips via the lightning network, that making it possible basically to send funds all over the world at "speed of the internet". Great, but Hive is doing that through simple wallet transfers for years now. It's nothing new, but no one is celebrating it. When twitter(WEB 2.0) does it, all are getting euphoric...except one.

What Twitter is doing with Bitcoin is like putting lipstick on a pig.
It doesnt make you want to kiss it.
Web 2.0 tied to #crypto is still Web 2.0.

What a poetic way of saying that what twitter is doing with its lightning network tipping option is still a sort of a centralized shit. Twitter is still the platform that "deplatforms" and proof of my words is the case of Donald Trump during the elections in the US. You've played an important role in rigging the elections, twitter.

If twitter can close your account, without any justification at all, same as the right to fundamental freedoms is being denied right now to most of us all over the world, what would stop it from doing that if supposedly "tipping the wrong person". Isn't it possible that twitter might somehow create some social profiles, based on the data they collect, and churn its users that can and can not use that feature?

I've seen that guy Jack Mallers so excited the other day of being able to send Peter McCormak $10 worth of Bitcoin by using this twitter new feature, available on IOS for the moment, when this thing is no longer a novelty on Hive for many years now. I can send 10 HBD to anyone in the world having a Hive account, in seconds, with absolutely no fee.

Congratulations twitter for once again reinventing Hive. The app is still WEB 2.0 and it will stay as such until the last user decides to leave it, and probably it's time to shill Hive even more aggressive. We paved this road, not Jack Dorsey. Let that be clear.

Thanks for attention,
Adrian

Yeah, we paved the road, Dorsey rolled out 3-lane highway. We might only hope for Web 2.0 getting more oppressive, which is kind a twisted.

I take it as the power of celebrity and marketing campaign. People want to hear messages. Our product is better in principles and is truly decentralized but that does not matter to regular users unless they are enlightened. The critical mass may find Hive or it is also a possibility that they may not. We need more voices and noise.

True, but if they manage to tip within Twitter, with all the "complicated" crypto and private key stuff, that is so putting off people from Hive, running invisibly in the background, that would be quite an achievement.
And we should embrace it too, as it would be a booster for mass adoption.

You have to tie a Bitcoin wallet to your account though. I forgot its name.

This could then be already a show-stopper for many. Even I do not consider myself as inexperienced, but I have also problems with my lighning wallet.

Yeah, of course they don't acknowledge the existence of Hive, they don't want to send people over here. But I guarantee you they know what it is. And Hive's "tipping" system is superior - frictionless, and you don't have to send anything from your own wallet unless you really want to. I don't think there are too many BTC hodlers at this point who want to part with their BTC just to tip someone for a Tweet.

And Bitcoin will NEVER implement a stake based rewards pool like we have here, so they're not going to have Hive style upvoting functionality on Twitter any time soon. Maybe they can with layer 2. But if that's possible any blockchain can be a layer 2 on BTC.
