If you have just started to play Splinterlands, you will probably be confronted with the dilemma of how to grow your account without having to invest a ton of money. Since there are no packs for sale at the moment, it's only possible to buy cards from the market or to buy overpriced Dice packs. What can you do if you don't have a lot of money to invest?

In the video I am showing you some ways how you can grow your account without having to make huge investments. With these tips you can grow some income sources that will allow you to grow faster than normal.

Tip 1: play and learn

Before you invest a lot of money, make sure that you learn how to play the game. Once you bought a Spellbook, which is necessary to be able to earn in the game, you will be able to use quite an array of cards already. Try these cards out, play games and try to do the daily quests. The more you play, the better you will get.

Tip 2: keep your cards and DEC

When you win games, you will earn the in game currency DEC. Make sure to keep these DEC tokens and also the reward cards that you might get over the daily quests and season rewards. These cards and DEC will contribute to your daily SPS airdrop. The more assets you own, the bigger your airdrop will be.

Tip 3: share your battles on Hive

When you create a Splinterlands account, there is automatically a hive account that is created with it. It's possible to get the keys to this account and you can then with these keys interact with the blockchain. You can then write posts about your Splinterlands journey or you can record your battles and share them over 3speak, which is a video platform on Hive. Make sure that you add the tags #spt and #splinterlands to your posts and you will earn SPT tokens which count for your daily airdrops!

Tip 4: share your daily quest rewards on Noise.cash

Noise.cash is a kind of crypto twitter and there is a special chamber just for splinterlands. Share your daily quest rewards or your experiences there and you might get some upvotes which will allow you to earn Bitcoin Cash.

Tip 5: invest into quest potions

With the Hive and Bitcoin cash that you have earned through your posts, you can now purchase credits on Splinterlands. Use these credits to buy Quest Potions. You need about 7 $ to buy 10 quest potions and to get one for free. These means that when you complete a daily quest you will get 5 addition chests per day! If you buy 10 potions, you will get a total of 55 chests that you can open over then next 11 days. This will give you some additional cards and DEC that will contribute to help you grow your game points and also your sps points.

These are great tips for beginners, Achim! I wouldn't have thought about buying quest potions as a cheap way to build small accounts right now.

I believe that at the moment it's pretty difficult to build a deck for beginners. The market and Dice packs seem overpriced and in this respect the quest potions are a nice alternative. Thanks for stopping by!

I will need to check out the quest potions I play the game on my alt hive account. Since I am just starting I have not bought a spell book but I am claiming and staking the SPS in that account

As long as you don't own a spell book, you won't be able to make daily quests. Therefore you can't use the potions yet. Once you get the spell book, you can earn with every game that you play and complete daily quests. It's well invested 10 $ :-).

Sorry, I needed to be a little clearer. I have a spell book for my alt account on which I play. I have found that all hive accounts have a Splinterlands account that can be accessed by using Hive Keychain to log in. When I logged into my main account ID on Splinterlands, it was getting an airdrop because of the SPT points I had in my main account so I claimed and staked the SPS to earn more SPS. So I have one spellbook on alt account but have not bought an additional one for my main account.

Welp...And here I've been using the DEC I've been earning and buying cards LOL

Thanks for the tip man, I'll adjust the strategy.

It's not a bad strategy in itself but if you want to optimise your SPS return, it's better to keep DEC. Just an example: let's say I have 860 DEC. It counts as 860 points. This is worth around 6.5$ today. With 6.5$ I can buy for example The Gorlodon (Death Epic). However in the points for the SPS, the card is only contributing with the burn value which is 200 points. On the passage I losse 660 points on my SPS points. On the other hand, we can't expect DEC prices to stay so high either. So both strategies have their disadvantages. For a total beginner that wants to get some SPS, I would suggest to keep the DEC.

Good read! I've been thinking about buying a Dice the other day with my 3,000 dec rewards from chests, I'm glad I didn't after reading this post.

Well, I believe that paying close to 18$ for a pack is too expensive anyways. Once the next collection is out, packs should be available for 2$ each again.
