When Prices fall the Dust rises

The price of Hive has actually quite a big influence on your posts and comments. The lower the hive price, the more chances that your comments and posts won't get a payout...

It's good to know these things about Hive. I just found out you need to get $0.02 vote for payout. So that's why when Hive was $3.00 there were much more posts !

@dustbunny will vote any posts under .002 to ensure a payout if you delegate a little

Yes the higher the value of hive, the easier it gets to reach payout :-)

Thanks for sharing! Still positive about Hive and if there is less competition, it's not a bad thing! Hehe!

That's what I'm always thinking. If less people post, there will be more of the remaining ones lol

This is very informative. I just knew this from you.
I think this is the reason why we only get notified of upvotes of around above 2cents?

Actually that is another thing but it comes down to the same :-)

Thanks for sharing. I have noticed this occurring on more of my curating. I like keeping my hive curation APR between 8 and 10%. As the price of Hive has fallen, I have had to adjust my vote % to ensure I have less curation fall below the dust threshold. It will be good when the prices stabilize. Take care.

Yes it's a good idea to increase the vote percentage when hive prices go down.

The only bad part for me is that my full 100% upvote is less than the dust threshold so on comments, I am basically only earning Hive engine tokens.

In this respect it's better not to waste your voting power on comments because you and the person who gets the vote, won't earn anything from it. It's a good idea to work with tipping tokens on comments to reward interaction for example.

That's an important reminder for newer people especially. I see many of them vote with amounts below the dust threshold, which is bad especially for them because they waste voting mana and get no curation rewards in return.

Exactly, there are two golden rules in voting. Alway make sure to vote with at least 150 Hive Power and not vote with less than 0.02$ on comments. Otherwise the votes will simply be lost...

does that mean all votes from a post together must exceed 20 cents? Or will the individual votes under 20 cents not be paid out, regardless of the total amount?

All votes together must reach a total value of 0.02 HBD so that the post reward doesn't turn to dust and all votes are lost.

Yea it's hard to figure things out and it makes me wonder if I should be topping off my dust sweeper again. I kind of just stopped bothering with it because I got lazy to keep refilling it.

Some really good points, we really need to pay attention to how much % we are voting now.

The golder rule is to make sure that every vote is done with at least 150 HP to avoid it turning to dust.

how do we know that on the vote bar? we have to do the math?

In a way yes. If you have 10'000 Hive power, I would never vote below 2%. That's about it :-)

Thanks, I increased slightly my minimum vote now, just to be sure! :)
