What will happen when chaos legion comes out?

During the last weeks, we have seen a tremendous growth of Splinterlands. It seems it was directly linked to SPS and came at a time when there were no packs to be bought from the website. Untamed packs are selling for close to 30$ per pack on secondary markets. Dice packs have sold out in record time and are selling for 25$ on these markets. DEC prices went through the roof. You need to pay around 7$ for 1000 DEC at the moment. Keeping in mind that it is supposed to be pegged 1000 DEC = 1$.

Because of SPS and the exponential growth of players, all the assets developed extremely well during the last weeks. The question is, how will the release of chaos legions affect this?

There will be a presale that will probably be linked to the SPS stake that players have. Probably the stake of SPS will define how many packs you can buy in the presale.

Why Splinterlands is not interested in bringing Chaos Legion out ASAP

In my opinion, Splinterlands won't bring the cards into the game as fast as possible because it will alter the economy. At the moment new players can only get into the game by either renting cards from other players or buying them on the market. Both makes the value of cards go up simply because the demand is high and the offer is decreasing. Each time a card is upgraded, the merged cards are burnt and the whole supply is decreasing. Keeping in mind that Splinterlands earns 5% on all the transactions that take place on the platform, they don't need to sell more cards. The more prices go up, the more players are in the game, the more these 5% will represent.

The challenge is to keep the economy running and introduce the new packs

My guess is therefore that the team will try to postpone the release of the chaos legion as long as possible. Because once these packs are for sale for 2$ per pack, it will make the value of DEC come down since it will be probably possible to buy 1 pack for 2000 DEC. This means that quite quickly people will sell DEC to buy other tokens in order to buy credits to buy packs. Soon we will have the peg more or less in place again. With lower DEC prices, the game becomes less rewarding to play, people will spend less for rentals or to buy cards.

Keeping this in mind, I think that the amount of packs that can be bought will be limited in the beginning. Anyways, it will be a very delicate path for Splinterlands to follow to bring these chaos legions into the game without disrupting the whole economy...

Haha, you are right about that but I don't think they had an economical chaos in mind when choosing the name ;-)

If these packs were to be sold today, I think they would be sold out in no time :-)

i like the way you think achim
and i agree 100%
i'm just saying that we need new cards in the game so there is a correction in prices....
the prices are very high for new players to buy them

as an old player it is not my interest , the reduction in prices but i'm concerned about the game and i want newbies to be happy...we need new players to stay and support the game...it will not be good to dump the game because of disappointment and luck of earning opportunities

I totally agree with you and I think the Splinterlands Team has to find a middleway because new users need new cards and how to do that without making prices collapse will be a difficult task :-)

Hi how are you ? Nice to greet you, I think the same as you, the developers of slpinterlands have a complicated decision to take out chaos legion, I think that so that the DEC does not fall abruptly they should accept the current market price and if it continues with the fixed price at 2 USD and they can be bought in the current heat of the market could also bring a flood of purchase of envelopes that although it seems good could cause problems.

The current prices seem too expensive to be maintained, in theory I think that chaos legion should leave for next month but as they have not yet given announcements it is likely that until next month they will give the information and October will come out, I I am selling half of everything I produce because I believe that at these prices it is the ideal time to make a profit.

Regards

Hi, Nice to see you around! I'm doing the same. I have been selling DEC and cards and I pushed my Hive Power with it. I also don't think that these prices will be sustainable in the long term. I think the objective with chaos legion will be to make the price drop as smooth as possible.

I have moved over some DEC to the pools on BSC and it won't be as easy to claim. So I was thinking of actually converting the SPS I get from this BSC side into BUSD and I might spend it on the chaos legion.

I'm exchanging my DEC into Hive and then into HBD that I put on savings. This is the money I've put aside to buy Chaos packs ;-)

Interesting observation. Economic supply and demand in action with arbitrage. I wonder how long it will take the DEC price to fall once players start selling DEC for other tokens then purchasing packs. Some investors may think when the price start falling that would be the perfect time to buy as much DEC as possible for the SPS airdrop.

You are totally right. There are so many factors linked to it and it's pretty difficult to predict how things will evolve. I believe that this is going to be a big challenge for the team.

İf they offered the new packs to be purchased with DEC only (like dice), so it will be 2000 dec, considered like 2$ (like the dice) , i think this would even push the DEC prices higher.
Because they are dealing with dec here not dollars.
İf they wanted to equalize this matter they would have did it previously while there is some dice available (it is all sold now) by making the crypto option available at the same moment the dec started to rise up.
İs there an official article talking about the availability of buying with credits or other cryptos generally ?

When I look back, it was always possible to buy alpha, beta and untamed with credits. Therefore I believe that for chaos legion it will be the same.
