Is it possible to have too many cards?
If you have started to play Splinterlands a couple of weeks or months ago and you have your summoner spell book and a couple of reward cards, this is probably not a problem you are confronted with.
When I look at my own deck however, I have alpha, beta, untamed, reward, promo and soon also chaos league cards. If for example I play the dragon splinter combined with the water splinter, I have close to 120 cards to chose from to make my line up.
I've realized that the more cards I have, the less cards I'm actually using. I tend to choose always among the 10 – 15 same cards when I play because these are the ones that I have in my mind. The problem is that I ignore all the other cards simply because I don't have time to go through them all when I make my lineups....

I can see where this would happen and to be honest I wish I had this problem. lol
One day I will get there, little by little I am adding cards to my deck.
Obviously it's a very nice problem to have :-)
I'm having the same problem with too many cards. The way I handle it - besides renting out what I am sure I don't need - is by using the filters A LOT. Especially the type of attack and mana cost filters. For the cards I use often (here's the problem you mentioned about maybe overusing some cards), I already know their mana cost by heart, and so that filter helps a lot. Sometimes I use the abilities filter, but not as often, because I don't like the way that field works (sometimes the search for abilities by typing doesn't work and I have to click outside of it and inside again to fix it).
What I'd like to see added to the lineup choosing screen (and I saw others want that too), is a way to sort cards by various options. For example, choose all 3 mana range attack monsters and sort them by their attack power, or their life.
I kind of get lost with these filters and I lose a lot of time when I use them. I would love to have a kind of favourite attribute that you could give to the cards that you want. Like that you could make a preselection and only have the cards that you play most displayed.
The only thing about favorites, is that favorites change from ruleset to ruleset, and from mana cap to mana cap.
Yes that's true. The best solution would be to have a favourite system that could be set in different categories defined by the player. Then you could filter according to the category of your choice.
This could help a lot of people, but I am not one of them. Haha Looking forward to have this the same problem. Nice content buddy.
It's indeed a nice problem to have lol. Thanks a lot for stopping by!
It makes sense entirely to get rid of the less used cards and upgrade the ones you use more often, as you say it can be overwhelming scrollling through too many many cards!
!PIZZA
In the beginning I tried to upgrade every single card and I think this isn't the best strategy. It's probably better to concentrate on fewer ones but to develop them to the maximum possible.
Oh for sure, having a good solid central stock is crucial I think! But it can be hard to let some of those other cards go!
I also tend to have some favorite cards hence a lot are not getting used. There are also a lot of times when I very rarely use common cards. hehe
I think the more cards you have, the more you have to single out the ones that I want to use most. I agree that I play legendaries more than common ones lol

Cool @achim03 thanks for dropping your knowledge bro.
Very helpful, i don't have this problem yet.
Have the best day
I hope that you have similar problems as soon as possible lol. It would mean that your deck grows at a nice rate :-)
LOL thanks bro
@achim03
Me too a problem i can look forward to sounds great:)
Too many cards is a good problem to have. You can rent out or even sell the ones you do not want.
As you can tell by my comment that I am pretty new lol
I think even newbies should not try to upgrade every single card. There are some cards that we won't play and it's better to sell or rent these to purchase the ones that we really need.
I agree 100%
I rent a lot to have the collection power for to get into the Silver league. Currently I am in Silver II. I agree, there are times I run low on time when I try to look at all the cards to choose the best combinations. So I use mostly the same cards. I also use this as a guage to know which card to rent vs buy. If I use a call all the time, I buy it and add it to my deck. If very little, I stay with renting.
I think that's a very sound strategy. A card can look very promising but then it can be very difficult to place in a deck. When you rent them you can try them out and see which ones are worth purchasing!
i usually sort by attack type to find them easier, or specific mana costs. splinterlands def needs better filters and perhaps a bar on top you can place 10 top played cards from each splinter to choose from easier
I believe it would be great to have a kind of favourite menus where you could groupe some cards according to a certain rule set. It's pretty difficult to find the good cards in the given time if you have plenty of them.
I am starting to get what you mean haha! I have played Splinterlands for close to 2 months and already have 41 reward cards! 😀
That's nice! You will see once CL will be available you will even earn CL packs from rewards and soon you have close to 100 cards :-)
Thanks for the video. Very enlightening. Have you thought about creating something along a word list of cards you should take into account for specifiy common rule sets? Might help to keep track of your cards and bring a bit of unpredictability into your battle history.
That's a good idea. The problem I face is that I have actually 4 accounts that I play with and I never managed to get started to create these lists. I should definitely do it :-)
I definitely don't have this problem, Achim. I am just getting the benefits of the cards that HE-Index holders have since I don't play the game. I have the one I rent out too.
