The Great Lesson Of The year
This year has been fantastic with a lot of value and a lot of lessons learned. I must declare that God has been faithful throughout the year.
This year, despite it being difficult, I managed to finish one major road project.
I have been making an effort to be a nice guy everywhere I am, whether it's on a job site or in a gathering, but this year I have discovered that being kind is incredibly beneficial.
This year, I worked on a project in a challenging environment. They had strong cultist activities, had little regard for human life, and would engage in day or night fighting. The police wouldn't arrive until the commotion had calmed.
Even though it was a government-sponsored project and my company was hired to complete it, the hoodlums chased everyone off the site when the project first began. The bad guys asked our company for a substantial sum of money, around $1500, but my employer negotiated to $500.
Although my company was supposed not to pay any fee to the area boys, we were told that it was a norm to pay the area boys fee, or else they won't allow us to do the project.
This is not new to me, but there are moments when I wonder if it's usual for some people to ask for money before development in their community starts. This demonstrates how terrible boys have contaminated our neighbourhood.
We were unable to begin the job, but the CDA chairman of the neighbourhood, the honourable, and some powerful individuals in the community met with the boys and were able to negotiate a price reduction of $400, which was split between the two bad guys groups.
After the local boys were paid, the work started. As soon as it did, I started being kind to everyone in the community, not just financially but also by saying nice things to them. I also motivated those who would be affected by the road construction.
My boss was not happy with this because he has a different personality, he only connects with a selected group of people, and he uses harsh language.
Every time he visited the site, the boys would argue with him and threaten him. However, as soon as I arrived at the spot, I would speak to the boys, and the situation would immediately become more peaceful. They paid attention to me since I spoke to them gently while I was on the job site and occasionally I bought drinks for them. They valued all the small favours I did for them, which increased their regard for me and benefited the project.
The elders in the community informed me that their previous project could not be finished because the site Engineer was hurt in the community.
How I Saved My Boss With My
Kindness
On this day, there was a fight between the boys in the community, they blocked everywhere, the fight was very serious, and they were shooting heavily. All shops and houses have been closed, and everyone on site has fled. My boss told me in the morning that he won't be able to show up at the site, so I was not expecting him. I ran for my life as well, I was just thinking about giving him a report about what was going on at the site when I received a call that my boss was under attack and that I should come over to the scene, the caller told me where he was attacked.
When I arrived at the scene, it was at the entrance to the construction site. My boss's side mirrors had been broken, and he was being held, hostage. He couldn't get out of the car because the boys might have hurt him if he had.
Fortunately, their leader was present, and I begged him to release my employer, insisting that he was unaware of the chaos raging in the community.
The leader of the bad boys turned to face my boss, telling him to be grateful to me because I have shown kindness to them since the project commenced.
Otherwise, they would have taught him a lesson that would have changed his entire life. The leader went on to say that ever since he started visiting the site, he has always frowned at them and occasionally insulted them, telling them that they are not leading good lives and will soon rot in prison.
I learned a lot from this incident that I should keep up with being kind, even if it doesn't pay at the moment, it will pay later. This has been a great lesson of the year for me.
Thank You All For Reading
Omoor it would have not been nice for your boss if you had not showed up. It's annoying that these area boys would be demanding for money on such construction. The government should have found a way to intervene in this matter and pursue all the area boys away since it is a government awarded contact.
Thank you for stopping by bro, the issue is that the Government used this guy during elections, so they can't pursue them away. The government will even tell you that you have to manage them because they are our boys and we can't kill them. Imagine that kind of thing.
It would have been a different story for him ,because they were counting scores as they used to say
I see. This country go better one day.
I hope so my brother
The issue of area boys is something else, it's somewhat funny, they would collect money because you want to help them develop their community, imagine 😃😃 one needs to take it lightly with them else you see their trouble, it's good that you were able to save your boss due to your kindness, if not it would have being another story by now. Of course it's good to be kind to everyone one day the reward will come.
Congratulations to you
Thank you bro

Hi there - when you are using images from canva and submitting your post to DreemPort - you MUST show us the source of the image . You can't just say "created on canva" :)
Here is the post that will show you how to do that :)
How to properly cite your Canva images in posts
Please be sure to do that from now on... or else the post will get rejected for improper image sourcing - thanks so much!! :)
Thank you so much, the image I used was on the canva element as it was explained in the tutorial.
I can now understand how to check the URL.
From the incident, I hope your boss have learnt one or two lessons because reverse would have been the case if you did not show up or you got there late. Sometimes it is not about giving generous gift, saying kind words to people goes a long way.
I'm glad you have cultivated this wonderful attitude, it will help you on the long run.
I'm from dreamport
Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for stopping by, kind words go on a long way. Those guys will harm anyone and they will flee the community, nothing will happen thereafter.
My boss has learnt his lesson now
Kindness is everything bro, you can use your act if kindness to buy a person's heart. You might not know how deep a small act of kindness goes.
You are very right bro, thank you for stopping by.
This year was really hard but thank God we pulled through.... Life first
It always pays to be good brother but to bad boys and good boys... Anybody can actually help you out when you least expected just in the case of your employer... The situation might have gotten nasty but thank God
Wishing you a merry Christmas brother

Wish you a prosperous year ahead!!!
Wishing you same bro
Thanks
You welcome
as the Proverb says: 'A mild answer turns away rage,
But a harsh word stirs up anger'
That's what the story is all about, you got it right man.
Thank you for stopping by
Wow it's good to be kind to others o, so your good act towards those guys previously plays out to be the reason why they held to your words and release your boss, I'm sure he'll be excited and proud of you for that act.
It's indeed good to be kind to everyone because we don't know who's who tomorrow and how fact can make our path cross again. Thanks for sharing this Masterpiece with us.
Thank you for stopping by bro, kind words go on a long way. Those guys do not care about anyone, they will harm anybody and flee the community, and nothing will happen thereafter.
My boss was very proud of me , and he changed his attitude towards those guys after the incident.
As in... The issue of area boys is not one that started today. And the thing is they keep on getting bolder and bolder. Because no one is calling them to order. Its annoying that after coughing out the substantial amount of money to buy the land, you'll still cough out some more to give these boys.
Just sad.
Thank you for sharing this with us.
They are the ones the Government used, so they have more powers. In fact, Government supplied them with heavy weapons.
Thank you so much for stopping by bro
People nowadays are getting worse. And you're good at how to respond to such behavior. Good thing you show them kindness despite such an attitude. It's hard sometimes, especially since we're just human. But being kind is worth it, just like your experience.
Read your post from @dreemport.
Thank you so much for the nice contribution.
I think no matter the situation, we should be kind to people, do the best and leave the rest
Nigeria my country 😭
Hmmmm, I can relate to your story so well my dear. Like I told you before, my husband is a civil engineer...so I understand the bad boys and their wahala. My husband told me that he dashes them money almost every day just to have a peaceful work. That's a sacrifice one can do in a country that can not protect her people..we apply wisdom to protect ourselves
If not for the kindness you show those guys ...who knows what would have happened to ur boss
I really hope him too learn his lesson
He has really learnt his lesson, his kind of those harsh Engineer that believes in the police. Any small thing he will say I will arrest all of them. All those words aggravated those guys and they already have him in mind.
Yeah, you told me about your husband's profession,I wish you meet him one day and my regards to him.
Thank you so much mama
I already have it at the back of my mind that there will be groups of people I need to settle in the area when I am ready to start up something here.
It's a norm. You have to pay homage or tributes to these folks. They keep an eye on your projects or properties so no one can temper with it as long the dues have been paid
I am happy you came to your boss's rescue. You are a good man.
Thank you so much, dear ,I appreciate your kind words. Did you guys pay dues to guys over there??
Huh? Lol. I meant when I want to start a business here I know there will be people I have to settle.
Lagos right??
Yoruba will say omoburuku lojo ti e.... That is very true. We may think those bad boys and hoodlums are very wicked and so, we shouldn't interact with them. It's good to be nice to people like them because of a day like this. Who knows who would save us? Being nice is important irrespective of whoever it is.
Your boss should be grateful to you because you saved his life. Those guys do not value lives oo.. they kill and never bother at all.
Thank God for the lesson you learnt too.
You are a very right princess and the funniest part is that the Government used them, so they will just arrest them and later free them. They don't even fear the police.
And since that time my boss has been nice to people, he doesn't use to say all his harsh words to people again.
Thank you for stopping by dear, you are amazing!
