Childhood Memories mixed with tears and joy (LOH #136)

source

Talking about memories, some memories makes you cry and some makes you laugh and want to go back to that particular event that brought about that memory. As a lady now, I have so many of them, both the good and the bad ones. Though sometimes even the bad memories helps to shape our lives and make us to be very careful in the future, which is the reason why I don't want to say that the bad memories are totally bad, but they have given me enough strength to today and the future.

The prompt for this week #136 is "What is the youngest memories you have"

I want to share something that I consider as an event that has made me who I am today and also helped me take some decisions in life concerning my kids. As from when I was either years old I was introduced to hawking all over the place with one thing or the other. Like I said before here that I didn't grow up with my parents. The death of my father forced my mum to give me out to my aunt who happen to be my father's younger sister. But in that house I was made to sell all kinds of fruits in the streets. I will wake up early in the morning to go round the street to sell pap. Coming back from school in the afternoon, I will still carry oranges or mango to go out to sell. I kept doing this until when I was fifteen before I stopped. But in this seven years, I became like a wild animal that can't be controlled.

THE SIDE EFFECTS OF ALLOWING KIDS TO GO HAWKING IN THE STREET
The disadvantages are more than the advantages. These are some of the habits that became part of me as a result of that:👇
learnt alot of bad things

I learnt how to lie,
I learnt how to steal,
I learnt lots of abusive words,
I learnt how to fight alongside other bad things.
This is an experience I never wished any of my child or even Grand children to have. I became too wild to be controlled by my aunt.

MY DECISION AS A RESULT OF MY PAST EXPERIENCE.
I made a very crucial decision because of my past life as a child: Non of my child will ever hawk in the streets no matter the poverty in the family. I also make sure to advise my children using myself as a case study never to allow their children to go into hawking for any reason.

In conclusion, I believe that if you read my story you must have learnt how bad it is to allow an innocent child to go hawking and learn all the bad characters in the streets. We should protect our children and not to expose them to dangerous life style.

Thanks for hopping in.
I will love to invite my friend @hivedeb to come and participate in this weeks contest.

I am sorry that you had to go through that as a child. I am grateful though, that you have the determination to not allow your children or others to do that. Thank you for sharing and have a lovely day!🤗💜

Harsh reality is many parents still send children to hawk on the streets. They are prone to abuse on the street, or prone to abuse coming home with no money for food.

Sad you experienced this growing up, proud you have made firm decision never to allow your own children to resort to this and given good reason as to why.

No matter how advanced a country may be, there should be no excuse for a child to left at the mercy of the streets. The streets are a cruel place rife with abuse in many forms leaving a lifetime of emotional damage. I'm glad you were able to walk away from that life. ❤️

Oh my dear, your memories bring in lot of pain as well as learnings. Hope you have found your peace in the present. Yes, letting out children open in the society can attract a lot of wrong things in their life like you have mentioned. It's nice that you have made those conscious decision to not expose your children to the same environment.

So sorry that you went through all that during childhood. The effects of the street is very bad on a child because if care isn't taking, the child might end up wayward.
