Ebook and Paperbook needs to compliment each other.

Can you go with both Ebook and Paperbook? Or do you take preference for any of them?

I'm happy to see this topic for Week 38:- Edition 02 contest. It is something that gives me concern, and I really do feel honored to participate in this discussion for this period. The contest topic says Ebooks Vs Paperbacks.

" which do you prefer? Reading from your phone or reading from a traditional book?"

Well, I want to go with both of them and also state my reasons.
To start with, I want to first of all look at paperbook. Apart from what we see today which has become a very big problem for our society especially for the students. When it was only paper book, students were very serious with studies. Most times you will see students in the library studying very hard and when the finally graduate from school, you will know that this one has gone to school. Because he/ she can actually defend the certificate given to him/her from the school.

So, we had to study hard those days. If a student is given any assignment to do at home. You will see the child very busy reading different books and asking uncles and aunts questions to know what to write. And at the end of the day, that child most have learnt something new from all that have been gathered. That is a thing of the past.

"You can carry your library around in your pocket."

This statement is very correct and no one will doubt it. But the question is has it been that helpful? Looking at students for instance, you will notice that they carry library around, but instead of studying it for the sake of knowledge, the go about doing something else with the phone. Most of our everyday questions and answers can be gotten online just with #300 data. But when we load the data we end up watching movies, charting friends, moving from Facebook to WhatsApp. All these have cost more harm to students instead of the relief it was meant to bring.

State your reasons.*

Considering how both Paperbook and Ebook functions in our daily lives, I will prefer using both of them. Yes, using both of them will be more helpful to me. Because when I starts using my Ebooks and discover that I can't concentrate because of one thing or the other, I will switch to my Paperbook.

Another reason is that if I focus on Ebook alone and my phone or laptop is not charged and maybe no power supply for a day or two, then one will be stranded.

Number three reasons for going with both of them is because of when my phone/laptop begins to malfunction, my books will be there to help at that critical moment.

Fourthly, some books are very expensive to buy in the market, but I can get them just with my data online. So,the ones that I can't purchase in the market, I will get them online.

My children don't even want to read their books again because they know that they can go online and get the answer. I see this as laziness in the lives of our children because of Ebook.

In conclude, we really need both Ebook and Paperbook so as to make things easier for us. We also should not throw away Paperbook because it helps students to be disciplined and learn how to read and write. Picking one against the other means neglecting the work of the one that we have thrown away.
