Hello great hivers. Happy new week. Do have a great week ahead.

Just do yourself a favor by sitting down to listen to this πŸ‘‡

While I was growing up, I lived with my aunt in Jos plateau state of Nigeria. At that time, we sell so many things like orange, banana, pap also called akamu, akara also called beans Cake, chicken meat etc. Most of the time, I will be the one to go round town and hawk to sell those things. It was not an easy experience for me, but I don't have any choice. Because I lost my father even before I was born, so my mother had no choice than to give me out to someone who can take care of my needs. This person happened to be my father's younger sister, so I had to obey and do whatever I was asked to do.

Some times I go out early in the morning by 5am with all the Cold in Jos as at then without any cardigan. Coming back by 7am to wash my legs and carry my bag off to school without any food to eat. I always go to school late because of the distance.

In the afternoon again when I am back from school, I will still be the one to go to the market to buy things that will be used to cook the food that we will eat in the house for that day.

Friends, things continued like this till one faithful day. You know, our people say that one day monkey will go to the market and will not come back. Hahaha πŸ˜„.
Before that day, I have been stealing my aunt's money because she don't feed me very well. After the sells sometimes, I will carry from the money and buy something to help my ministry. Hahaha πŸ˜„. I don't know if you also did that? Maybe we need to start praying that God will forgive us for all the wrongs we did back then. πŸ™

This particular day, I went to the market one hot afternoon to sell orange and some other fruits. After selling, I counted the money and it was complete. I started going back home with all confidence that my aunt will praise me for selling everything that was given to me. Ahhhhn. I did not see any danger coming. I decided to tie the money at the tip of my wrapper. You know how well I tried it right? Hahaha πŸ˜„. I really did tied it very well that when I got home and was about to remove the money to give her was when I noticed that the money was not there. It was like a movie for me. Because I thought that the money was there, but it was not. That was the beginning of a very big problem for me.

My aunt never believed anything that I told her. She said that I ate all her money and that I am pretending to have lost it. I received the beating of my life that day. She made sure that she dealt with me very well, because she has been suspecting that I have been stealing her money and for her that was a good confirmation.

This is the leg that was injured that day.

This picture belongs to me.

Till this very day, I carry on my legs the mark that I received from the beaten that day. It was indeed a bad experience for me. Some months later we traveled home to see my mother in the village, my aunt made sure I never told my mother what she did to me because she was afraid that when my mother sees the leg with the injury she will not allow me go back to Jos with her. My mother saw it and asked me what happened to me, I just told her that I fail down in school while playing. And that was how even till my mother passed away she never had that her husband's younger sister dealt with me like that.

A BIG LESSON FOR ME

  1. I vowed never to give any of my child out to anyone no matter how related.

  2. I decided to give birth to only the ones I can Care for to avoid looking for someone that will help me raise them.

  3. I treat every child likey own child. Anything I know that is good for my children, I do it for every child.

That will be all for today.

This post is made in response to the hive learners community contest for this week. Titled: A True Life Story.

She should have at least gone with you to search for the money instead of accusing you falsely of theft.

Hahaha πŸ˜„. Who has that time? She can't do that. You know I am not her daughter.
Thanks for hopping in.

Im sorry to hear that experience @adaezeinchrist. Me too stayed my aunt (mother's sister) for a year. She didn't beat me but she taught I am a thief of her money. I cried almost every night thats why I went home after the school year.

What a terrible experience even when it was the truth and you still carry the scars of that incident. I usually keep in mind that things don't just happen without good reason or cosmic purpose. We tend to learn valuable lessons well after the fact.

Hmm! It is not easy at all. This post really got me emotional but that is how life is. Only few people are truly kind and considerate. I was wondering if your aunt will treat you like that if you were her biological child. What is food that she wouldn't feed you well, even after all the services you were rendering unto her? If you took her money too it was because she made you do it, food is a very vital thing in a child's life. But you were not supposed to steal from her though hehe😁. Well that is all in the past now, I hope you have moved on?

I love the lessons you acquired from your experiences. Thank God our age is advanced, we should always calculate before we dive into giving birth to children. The world is full of wickedness, it is not everyone that can take care of your children, many people can only smile with you on the face but when you are not around they will turn their backs on your kids and forget the good you did for them. I don't even advise giving out our children to others to cater for them, not even my siblings. It is better we stay and eat sand together than send my kids to go and be exposed to a bad kind of life out there

Eeyah... Some family members are like that. They will treat their nephews and nieces in a way they would never treat their own children. No one will love you unconditionally like yours, that's the truth.

Thank you for sharing this with us.
