RE: Finally Got My Mic Delivered and Now It's Time to Experiment

You are viewing a single comment's thread:

So now you've got your new microphone, is there a dApp for podcasting? I used to make YouTube videos years ago about the struggles

Vimmtv is the only one I could think of but it's not exactly a dapp, sort of like another frontend that let's you post during livestreams other than that, nothing comes to mind. I can somehow picture out the struggle to find something interesting or relevant content to pump out and maintain an audience. Heck, thinking about what I'm supposed to be talking about now is already makes me doubt.

I was going through getting a diagnosis after my health went down hill. But apart from being depressing I eventually ran out of things to say. I think if I did a podcast, the only use it would have would be to help insomniacs to sleep!

Sorry to hear about your health and depression, hope things are turning well for you right now. Before I consumed podcast content, I used to think these were only good for triggering sleep until I found the content creators that talk about the stuff I'm interested in. It's a matter of discovery between audience and creator that sets up the mood to listen. I know there are days when I'm not really up to listening to the same creators even if I inherently find the topic interesting.

Thank you. Thankfully I wasn't depressed but when I look back at some of my videos they weren't exactly upbeat. I started making YouTube videos back in 2006 and had quite a following at the time. I used the username kaazoom on that too. It was mainly people who were struggling to get a diagnosis or, who like me, had been fobbed off with a it's all in your head type diagnosis that followed me. I was eventually diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome but I had many more symptoms than fatigue. Much like those who have long covid. Many of the people who followed me were diagnosed with CFS, or as most patients prefer to call it Myalgic Encephomylitis. I ended up repeating myself, and it wasn't good to keep focusing on my health. Although I still have it, I have learnt to deal with it.

I've since gone on to develop other conditions that are better recognised by doctors.

I'll have a look at the frontend you mentioned. I still have so much to learn about Hive.

That's tough, can't imagine something like that to be lived with chronically. Perhaps you'd like to continue the podcasts sometime too? Hive isn't really as punishing when it comes to experimentation and you'd get something at least for your time. We have a lack of content diversity in terms of niche topics as an ecosystem.

I have been thinking about that. But I still need to understand this a bit better before I go down that route. I also need to listen to more podcasts to get some idea of what is expected. I have only heard ones that have a least 2 people on them in conversation, I've not heard any where there is just one person speaking.

I have thought about moving some of my YouTube videos onto a Hive dApp, as I get nothing from YouTube for the content I created. But I would need to be selective.

Probably better to call it a monologue than a podcast, something I intend to do. Good luck to us :)
