Filter the info on Twitter. Impossible mission?

Dear Hivers

Today, entrepreneurs and marketers are faced with the same problem: they do not have time to sift through the mass of information available to follow the news of their sector or simply to keep abreast of the situation. evolution of the world.

Twitter is a valuable source of “live” information but, with 400 million tweets per day , it is also an endless and bubbling flow in which we risk drowning.

Some applications can help filter and reduce this noise. To find important news or tweets faster. Thanks to personalized filters, some tools scan for you the themes that interest you and allow you to follow world news, trends, etc.

A filter for what?
Every twittos (Twitter user) dreams of finding the magic filter that would allow them to quickly and efficiently extract the rare pearls of everyday chaos.

The idea is therefore to find a way to return the bulk of the tweets sorted by category and degree of relevance. To reduce noise and avoid unnecessary or even harmful tweets.

For my part, I also dream that such a tool only retains the source of each information by ignoring all the intermediaries (except, if what you are looking for is precisely to determine the popularity of a tweet or an article). This infinite proliferation (in which I admit participating since I broadcast my watch) often unnecessarily inflates our twitter threads.

Surprisingly, I see that there are very few tools of this kind! Here are a few.

The tools available
Above all, Twitter itself has an internal search engine . Did you know that there is an advanced search form that allows you to specify keywords, hashtags, people and places to refine your search?
Next, TweetDeck (owned by Twitter) and HootSuite are two platforms that allow you to dedicate a twitter thread to a specific hahstag (keyword). A very practical way to monitor a topic that interests you.
Inagist , as its name suggests (from the English “in a gist”), claims to get to the core of your twitter feeds . It also gives you the possibility of following certain programmed sections , such as world, science or business or the news of a region, even of a city. But all this is unfortunately quite limited!
Filtering your timeline is also possible via a Firefox or Chrome extension . You can hide tweets with LarryFilter (Firefox, Chrome) or show / hide tweets with Open Tweet Filter (Chrome).
Finally, Twilert allows you to generate keyword alerts (similar to Google alerts). When these keywords are detected in a tweet, you will receive an email, at the frequency you have defined.
There you go, no matter how hard I search the internet, I haven't found the magic formula!
If you know other tools, I'm interested (especially if they allow you to quickly detect the source of information and do not hesitate to share your best practices in the comments.
