Talchum - Mask Dance can still be performed live with social restrictions.
You can find performances in the Korean folk village or around the world wherever there is a cultural venue. There is a significant meaning to the mask and the story and the importance of keeping it.
The mask dance is a satire drama that mostly makes fun of Monks that are corrupt and a conceited upper class. Cool stuff.
This performance is simply breathtaking, i always love Koreans rich culture.
Music mixed with drama and dance! Oh my!. I'd definitely love to see a live performance. How entertaining would it be.
I am really blessed to visit here and stay for the past twenty something years. When I first moved I missed some American cultural experiences but when I learned the language my eyes were opened to a new world. Glad to share this with you @funshee.
I do watch a lot of Korean movies because of the way they show case there rich and interesting culture, and i hope i will be able to visit there some day.
Oh my! I see these in the Korean dramas I watch and I've always wished to see it for myself... I hope I get to visit there someday.
Nice suggestion sir
My second choice is the fan dance
I love how dance has been mixed with drama and storytelling. We are getting a great mix of everything.
It is real classic almost like dance around the campfire classic.
Exactly. Instead of just stories being told or songs being sang, this combines all elements of story telling through performance.
What a beauty of show they do in your country! I did not know this type of interpretation, I really like the costumes, how they interpret the characters and especially their masks. It is a very beautiful theatrical artistic manifestation!
The dance is surprisingly a deep satire of the upper classes. I love it.
On this occasion I leave my contribution to the contest, and I can say that the artistic expression that characterizes us as Argentines is music, theater and literature. However, it depends on the region of the country where you find many types of artistic expressions and they are so different from each other that it is incredible that in the same country there are so many and varied ways of expressing the art that we carry inside.
That is why I chose to tell you that in my city the greatest expression of art is the CARNIVAL. Which takes place in the CORSÓDROMO, is an open-air show that lasts between 4 and 5 hours, and takes place every Saturday in January and February, and the entire carnival weekend.
On that date the city explodes with tourists and our beaches and clubs are full of young people who like to go and have fun. I leave a link with a post I made telling about my city, the carnival and a little more about me.
Terracotta art is a popular expression of art form in my country. It is mainly a rural art form where natural clay and wide spaces for drying and curing the pieces made are readily available.
Mostly animals , folk art and god and goddesses are depicted in this art form here in India.
You'd commonly find artisans selling these pieces along the highways as you drive from state to state.
I am not able to post using pob front end.. this is the only way I can post on POB now.
Oh... Interesting.. they even sell them along the roadside. That means it's in excess.. a lot of talent.
The rural folks can't afford to bring it to the cities and sell them; so the best way is to sell them to the city folks is to sell them on the highways without moving an inch and still getting a great price.
That is very interesting and innovative too. Amazing.
It's like killing two birds with one stone.
They are smart business people alright!
Smart people thrive better in business.
Wow Sofs! Those are beautiful and very creative... I know you have these a lot at your country, I do see some in the movies I watch.
Nice suggestion sofs
You watch Indian Movies?? Hmmm.. I don't watch any movies lol.
😂 I watch them a lot before now, I've just not been chanced to watch them any more
This look really cool, nice art suggestion.
My friend brought me a mini clay elephant from India few years ago. It was quite an intricate piece and it was also nicely painted. I have used clay before for an art class and it definitely takes some getting used to in order to make well structured designs. I want to get back into it.
The ones I bought this time were not so delicate or great.. i just bought them to encourage the artisans during this pandemic. I see that not many people are stopping to buy these things anymore.
Some of the products from a couple of states names AP and Kolkotta are very intricately designed.
I love collecting these..
I have bought some clay online, hoping to craft with it.
Let me see how things go. Thanks for stopping by @moon-city
This is still a worthwhile initiative to take! Kudos to you for attempting to do that. I am hoping that as situations get better here and there, people will become more encouraged to support local artisans for their crafts.
Woohoo! I hope it goes well for you. I just realized it is Thursday hahahah. I will be checking out the bird contest soon when it pops up.
Those poor folks need help in times like these.
haha I love your enthusiasm. Can't wait to read your stories there @moon-city
I have seen this red clay a lot in India. In Dehli even some of the old buildings are made of red clay like qutub minar and the red fort. It is like taking a trip back in time. I want to go back to India^^
Oh those are red stand stones not clay exactly. Welcome, to India.
Hope this pandemic will come to an end soon and we can travel like before.
It so annoying that we cannot travel freely.
I will be back soon enough @sofs-su
That's the spirit!! I can't wait to get out of here as well.
What a beauty of craftsmanship! Love it! It is very detailed and clear, that type of figures there in your country are very adored, like the elephant for example. I loved the art they do in India. I must go, it is a country that I would love to visit. Greetings!
You would be warmly welcome here. The craftsmanship is amazing in so many areas marble work, wood craft and such. I am sure you'll enjoy your trip here.
Thank you very much for your beautiful invitation. I know that if I have the possibility I will go to visit you and your beautiful country!! I loved those crafts!!
You will find a whole lot of them here.. You'll be richer for the experience
Welcome once again.
💚😊✌Thank you very much!!✌😊💚
When I saw artistic expression, I smiled because I live in art. My mom is an artist and she basically does art that tells us more about my region. I got some of her rough works.
This piece talks about the type of house most people in the rural area live in. A house made with sand and raffia palm.
This other piece talks about the traditional way men dress in my region, not just any type of man, a clan leader or a chief because of the crown-like thing on the man's head.
Do have a good day everyone.
You've talked about your mum being an artist before in the last edition but I didn't get to see her work... These are so creative, she's good really.
Nice suggestion
Thank you, I guess I don't have to take the glory. Your compliment would be passed down to her.
Woo.. ..nice showing us your mom art, she has a creative work there. I hope you were able to learn art from her?
Nope, I didn't. At first I thought about it but later on, I realized I wasn't into the whole painting thing.
Your mom is super cool,
I like the way she remembers the rural houses and with a tinge of purple. Does she host these pictures on the web somewhere?
No. She hasn't put them on the net, they're still within for now.
Thanks you

Your mother really is a real artist! Beautiful paintings that represent your country! Thanks for sharing!
Yes, representation of mostly the rural areas.
In today art suggestion, let me welcome you to Nigeria and introduce you to ;
Nnekata by Flavour: this is cultural music display play by one of Nigeria well know Musician whose most of his songs used in promoting Igbo culture, one of the three major Ethnics group in Nigeria.
Nnekata is love song, of a beautiful lady who Flavour fell in love with.
Watch and enjoy😊. As you can see they had a lot fun and laugh performing the song.
Baby alakart😅
Flavour never slags behind.
Thanks for bringing up this suggestion, see as I was smiling like I was the girl in the video.
I heard the song but never got to see to the video.
Flavour is very talented in making his audience smiles watching his love story videos . Thanks for your comment 🙏🤗
The video makes it seem like he likes ass... 😅..
You're welcome dear
Oh my! I love this video, so much live in it and I couldn't help but smile at Flavour voice even though I can't hear igbo.
Nice suggestion dear, Nigeria is blessed.
Nigeria is truly bless 🤗😊
I am in love with the smiles, happiness and camaraderie in the music video. This is my first time listening to Nigerian music and I am extremely glad I came across this. I have to explore this artist more in depth now.
This song is so cute,
I love this guys initiative and persistence.
This kind of cultural exchange is something I'd love to see everyday on POB. Like this is what POBtalk should be like. Comments like what's up are a nice curtesy but songs like these would strengthen confidence and lift our spirits each day.
Yeah, we need some interesting stuff like this to ginger things up at #POBTALK.
I see your topic this morning we need more of that.
Beautiful song! Although I don't know what he said in his handwriting, it can be seen in the video that the boy wanted the girl and was reciprocated. You can tell how they had fun making the clip. Beautiful theme that represents your country! Thanks! I love listening to new music!
Thank you for your comment, its kind of you.
Yes the guy is proposing marriage to her and as you can see from the video, she is obliging to him.
I'm a Nigerian and I've always been proud of the artworks I find around especially when I visit museums online 😂 I don't visit them physically.
Here is an art work of a typical Nigerian woman from the south side, a woman with a hair scarf. You could see her fine dark skin... Another feature of our Nigerians skin which we are proud of.
Beautiful African woman, she look great.
I love the hair scarf! I know a Nigerian seller here in Canada who sells hair scarves and has video tutorials on how to put them on your hair and style it. I am very glad to have bought some pieces from her to support her small business. During summer time, I wear those hair scarves outdoors.
Wow you do tie our kind of hair scarf over there? That is so cool, I'm sure it would look good on you 😊
I started using it during winter time sometimes. I noticed that my hair became less frizzy. The material of the scarf must have been very good because I had less hair flyaways.
My son has been begging me to take him to the art museum but because of covid we didn't go. Maybe we should look at some online museums. This painting is a treasure. She has such a beautiful face and yes, rich in color. I like the way the portrait captures her beauty and accents it with the light background.
Yeah, there are awesome museums online, and I guess be would love them but I'm sure he'd prefer a real one though 😊
That artwork gave a lot of exposure of how our Nigerians look like
Yeah, I'm proud of Nigerians in times like this
Be alert and be strong and wise.
Beautiful painting, beautiful woman and beautiful golden skin contrasting with her clothing. Love it!!
One of the earliest forms of artistic expression here in Canada was done by the First Nations and other indigenous communities here. I remember watching one of the Indigenous dances in my high school where ornamental masks in the shape of animals were worn by the Indigenous members as well as colorful clothing and other ornaments. The songs they sang and the dances were prepared for all significant events in their lives such as birth, death and prayer.

I grew up in Illinois and sometimes made it to pow wows that I will never forget in my life. As a child I was inspired and transformed to another world in minutes.
Oh wow that must have been a brand new experience to see in person as a child. I am hoping to go up North here to watch the Northern Lights. There is a big indigenous community there too. I am hoping to find resources to learn the dialect a bit. This is a very far into the future plan though.
It seems possible one summer to just keep driving north until you get there. It's not out of the question. And as for the dialect, you can get the basics covered quick. It's fluency that is difficult. Probably will take a lifetime and you never really understand until you become one. My brother lives in Alaska and in the summer he drives up to the arctic circle. The world is real there.
I agree with you here. I just need to make sure I pick the right time of the year as well. Heard it can get very tough in the winter.
I would be more than happy to master the basics hahahha. Thank you for the reassurance though with the possibility of going up there and still learning basics.
A place I have in my bucket list to visit for sure. I have a question for you. Where would you love to travel in the future?
I never travel just for the sake of travel. I go to places I need to be, but if I had a choice I would like to travel to another dimension as long as I know the way back home.
These ornamental mask looks colorful and cool, it has been really interesting sharing our cultural objects across the globe. Looking forward to more amazing suggestions.
Thank you so much Funshee. This was a great opportunity to learn about several different cultures of other people around the world. It could even educate people who did not know much about their very own culture and I hope they come to appreciate it.
😂 I'm not scared... 🤭 I'm trying not to be scared 🤣 don't laugh at me.
When I first saw this artistic expression, it was so creative and amazing but it started to look scary to me 😂🤣
I share the same sentiment as you! I tried not to be scared. Lets be scared together 🤣
Very creative the masks they used in their rituals. I think they are very ingenious when they are made with materials from nature.
Nice one, deliberation or the option of people's is the answers to nice work,is not easy to organize this kind of art contests, you really don a wonderful work, congratulations and keep it up.
Thank you!
