I have always wanted to attend the Festival, it's said to be a very large Festival in the City of Osun. It's important to note that people come from all areas of life to attend. Those who wants children, good work and other good things of life attend the Festival.

Consistently, the Osun-Osgogbo celebration is praised in the long stretch of August at the forest. Yearly, the celebration draws in large number of Osun admirers, onlookers and travelers from varying backgrounds.

For individuals of Osogbo Land, August is a month of festivity, customary purifying of the city and social get-together individuals with their precursors and authors of the Osogbo Realm.

The Osun Osogbo celebration is accepted to have a background marked by over 700 years. By and large, a genealogical event prompted the festival of this celebration. Sometime in the distant past, a gathering of moving individuals who were driven by an extraordinary tracker called Olutimehin chose the bank of Osun waterway, to save themselves from starvation. At the waterway side, Osun the goddess showed up from the water before Olutimehin and mentioned him to lead individuals to an exceptional spot (present Osogbo town). The goddess vowed to secure all the gathering and acquire them success return for a yearly penance to her. The gathering acknowledged the recommendation. Today the yearly penance to the Osun Waterway Goddess is the thing that is as yet celebrated as the Osun Osogbo Celebration.

The Osun-Osogbo Celebration is a fourteen day long program. It begins with the customary purging of the town called 'Iwopopo', which is continued in three days by the lighting of the 500-year-old sixteen-point light called 'Ina Olojumerindinlogun'.

Ina Olojumerindinlogun, the sacrosanct light lit toward the start of the yearly Osun-Osogbo celebration

Then, at that point comes the 'Iboriade', an array of the crowns of the past ruler, Ataojas of Osogbo, for endowments. This occasion is driven by the sitting Ataoja of Osogbo and the Arugba, Yeye Osun and a panel of priestesses

Thank you guys for the huge support.

Nice! I'd always heard of the Osun-Osgogbo yearly festival too but have never attended. Its a colourful event from the pictures and people come in from outside Nigeria to attend. Did you know that?

The Ina Olojumerindinlogun and Iboriade events are interesting parts of the festival to watch.

Thank you for sharing the Osun-Osgogbo festival with us. 🙂
