JUJU MUSIC IN NIGERIA
Hello good morning, talking about juju music today and it's a popular and well known and acceptable music among the Yoruba people in Nigeria.This type of music have been in existence for a very long time and one of the main instruments is iya ilu. It's made from cow skin and it's very popular in Yoruba land. Some people were known as the founder and pioneer of this music and some of them are Ojoge and irewole. What is called Afro juju is a style of music which is famous and popular. It's just combining of juju and Afrobeat. One of the widely known afro juju singer is Sir Sina peters. Different sounds were incorporated into the music such as electric instruments and people like Olatunde , Dairo and others like Obey have mixed different sounds and used several instruments to make them unique.
Just like every other music, there is always improvement in the music and differ people come on board to add their own quota and therefore making the music a world wide music.juju music is practically from South western Nigeria and the yorubas. Some of them have their own albums and they are also invited to play in occasions and move their fans to the next level. The music was performed at clubs and hotels and especially at night. Juju music is played at festivities even at burial ceremony, wedding, title, house warming and others. This will make the people to feel lively and be happy too.
Although there are many types of music that are performed in Yoruba land but this is a unique one and there are evergreen songs that people dance too for several years even till date. Songs that are meaningful and people can always learn from them. Songs by King Sunny Ade and Chief Commander Ebenezer Obey.
