Making Mistakes and still kicking Butt

Making Mistakes And still Kicking Butt.png

I really am hard on myself . I am such a perfectionist.

This gets in my way all of the time because I don't like to make mistakes.

I have had to learn to give myself some slack or I would never get anything done.
I look at making a mistake as a practice run these days. It is not the end of the world you know.
Practice makes perfect and making a mistake is part of learning something new.

I should know being a musician. Do you know how many mistakes I had to make before I became a descent Guitar player. Enough to drive the people I live with crazy.
It is not so crazy making any more because I learned and don't make a lot of mistakes any more.

One of my biggest mistakes in the recent years was to quit when I got overwhelmed.
This year is different. I made a commitment to myself that I wouldn't quit any more.

I have showed up consistently since December and will continue.
My results have been great so far. The biggest problem with quitting is that people wont remember who you are at the very least and they also might not trust you as much because you disappeared. It was a hard lesson but I think I got it now.

What are some of the mistakes you have learned from?

There's a hastily scrawled Post It note taped to my laptop that says:

Good and finished is better than perfect and undone.

I totally get having perfectionist tendencies and I had to learn from my many mistakes that resulted from yielding to that part of my nature, so I'm so glad to hear you are not letting them stop you from making progress😊

I love that quote "Good and finished is better than perfect and undone."
I think I will put that on my computer. Life is too short

Don't try to be perfect....Just try to 'be'!

I think the secret to all this stuff is being seen as someone who...Puts in the effort. Not the one trying to be a perfectionist.

I have a similar saying as @generikat Mine is Perfect is the enemy of Good. When we try to be perfect we fail to be good. Good can be accomplished, perfect cannot.

Wow Thank you . That is another golden Quote
"Perfect is the enemy of Good. When we try to be perfect we fail to be good. Good can be accomplished, perfect cannot."
Brilliant

I made a mistake by kicking a butt. Where does that land me?

Making mistakes in life is perfectly normal, as long as we learn from them and do not repeat them. Good post Tom.

Perfection is overrated, as I also suffer from the syndrome of being hard on myself; but the most valuable lesson I've learned - is that what makes us stand out is our imperfections.

Keep hustlin' @alente - You Got This!!

Perfection doesn't really seem worth it that much. It's much easier to just expect the best but prepare for the worst.

That is a good way to look at it. I do prepare for the worst, maybe a little more than I should.
Maybe that is an important part? Hmm? I will have to think on that

Sometimes it is better to do something than do nothing.
Action always sets things in motion. Interesting how that happens.

None of us like making mistakes. I am a firm believer in, "you learn more doing it wrong than you do doing it right and not knowing what you did." Thanks for sharing.

Thanks I think you are right . Maybe that is the most important thing about mistakes.

I used to make more mistakes than I will admit to and then I would stop everything to go back and fix the mistakes instead of keeping moving forward. I have loosen up a whole lot about the mistakes I make (they still bother me) but by not being as hard on myself about the mistakes, I have learned I am enjoying life a whole lot more. Now I just acknowledge the mistake and more on. "Don't sweat the small stuff because it is all small stuff" is from a book I read a few years back.
