The finals of the inter-school football competition between Boys Technical College and it's counterpart The Government Secondary School was keenly contested as nobody wants to lose at the finals. The two teams have been really outstanding throughout the school football competition.

However, just after 90 minutes the two teams could not be separated. The match went into extra time. Yet, a winner could not emerge. There was no provision for penalties. The panel had to decide who the winner is.

In doing so, a lot of factors were considered. These include: the number of shots on target, the number of saves made by either of the teams goal tenders, the number of cautions... yellow cards and red cards given to both teams and most especially fair play.

After several scrutiny by the panel of judges, the Government Secondary School was thus announced as the winner. Both staff and students of the school came out and ran into the pitch to congratulate their own team. It was a glorious sight to behold.

When the trophy was handed over to their school football team captain they all went birsek. It was just a case of "the winner takes it all". Scenes of joy and laughter on one side; scenes of anger, pains and crying on the other side.

Those judges had to pay attention to everything during the game. Still, I feel it's a pity there was not a penalty shootout so that one side would eventually score more goals than the other.

Yes, I felt same way too but sometimes the rules of the game changes and a side will reap the benefits. Take for instance the away goal rule. When in vogue most teams enjoyed it but in most competitions now, it has been abolished
