Reminiscences on COVID-19: My IAAC Post #11

The world was hit with a new strain of virus it has never known. The COVID-19 took the world with a Storm and my country Nigeria was no exception.

My state went into lockdown on April 01, 2020 and with the passage of time it was relaxed to ease the pains people and the general public were passing through at the time.

Wearing of face masks became the order of the day. It was even made a law to wear same once one is in a public place, failing which the offender will be sanctioned.

However, with the passage of time various countries started easing and or relaxing the restrictions placed on people, I mean observation of the COVID-19 protocols.

Nigeria equally keyed into the latest trend of relaxation of the restrictions and with the emergence of various COVID-19 vaccines, things became easy for people. Thus, the wearing of facemasks became less mandatory once a person has been vaccinated.

However, with the 3rd wave of the virus ravaging the globe (the Delta variant) it once more becomes imperative to wear facemasks once a person is in a public place in addition to the observance of other COVID-19 protocols.

I visited one of the commercial banks in my area today and I was made to observe the protocols, namely sanitizing my hands with a hand sanitizer, wearing of a facemask and maintaining social distancing of about 2 metres away from other bank customers.

I was happy I went with my facemask to the bank otherwise I would have been turned away. I there and then remembered
how life was sometime this time last year. Reminiscences!!! I thank God we were able to survive the COVID-19 and its associated problems last year till now. I am happy that we are all alive in spite of the challenges we faced since last year till now.

Immediately I left the banking hall and premises, I decided to remove the facemask and breathe a sigh of relief. We made it!!!
