NeedleWorkMonday: My Team Footwear Thread Hand Skill Making

Hello everyone. Hope you're fine. Today is my first time making a post in this community of #NeedleWorkMonday but after I went through the FAQs, I discover that I have to especially thank @crosheille for the effort in initiating the community and I still want to thank @crystalize for the effort made in seeing that the community is moving forward.

All I have to say is that since I joined Hive last year I never knew that such a community where I can easily show some of the skills I acquired in the camp when I was still serving my country Nigeria NYSC after graduating from the higher institution.

During my NYSC in Makrudi Benue State Nigeria, I was opportune to learn how to make shoes with thread and how to design a website but because of the country I am coming from. Shoes are often worn by people and it moves the market. So for that reason, I put more effort into shoemaking but I don't have much time for shoemaking and other of my skills than I have for research and writing.

Because not much time for me in thread shoemaking, I tutored some persons to assist me to do the work while I provide the office center, financed the materials, and also monitor the shoe thread-making processes. I have taught more than 11 people about thread shoemaking.

Since I have joined the #NeedleWorkMonday community. I am happy that I will learn more about thread shoemaking and other needles' work.

Today been Monday, I and my team decided to make a special thread pam which I will be wearing because my old pam is no longer new. So I and my team designed a new one for myself. I will tell you how you can design yours with my experience.

From the image above, you will be seeing some items which we used to produce the pam men's footwear with thread.

We used Black sewing thread, scissors, needles, pam sole, gum, lighter matches, sandpaper.

Sewing thread in pam making is used to weave the design choice of the pam.

Scissors in pam thread-making are used in cutting the thread at the process of sewing or weaving.

Needles as we all know, are in pam thread making. We use needles in sewing or wearing the design choice of the pam or shoe.

Pam Sole is the material in which the weaved thread been designed is used to gum together to form the real thread pam.

Gum is used to join the pam leader weaved with thread to the pam sole.

Lighter matches are used to make the threaded mouth being weaved gum together with fire.

Sandpaper is used to scrape the leader sole for the formulation of holes so as to enable the sole and the top leader to gum well.

Let me now tell you the procedures:
Looking at the image above, after we have arranged our materials for the thread pam making.

We used some samples from a paper catalog to figure out some pam designs before we started weaving. Then we started weaving based on our choice of the pam we want to make with thread.

From the image above, during the process of weaving with the thread for the pam making. We used to fire from lighter matches to gum the mouth of the thread after weaving and been cut with scissors.

From the two images above, you will see some samples of our work as we have just weaved for the pam we are making

After we were done with our pam thread weaving. We have to bring the pam sole and then scrape it well with sandpaper. After it, we have to leave it under the sun for like 8 hours in order to make the gumming stronger and last for long without water penetrating.

After the sunning of the pam sole and the weaved leader. We have to gum the materials together and then used a hammer to hit the two materials for proper joining.

After the whole process, we came up with the wonderfully weaved thread pam you're seeing above. I love and have a passion for thread shoes, pam, bags, clothes, and other making.

Do you know why I love working with people in any of my work? It brings out more ideas as a team, It makes the work neater and faster. We produce more in a day despite my research and writing.

Hello @apunawu! Welcome to the NeedleWorkMonday Community!

This craftsman work is very impressive. It’s neatly done and with care. I have always been amazed by this type of skill and would love to learn it myself one day (far in the future as I already have too many things I want to learn 😄).

Thank you for sharing a little about your self and how you’ve come to making footwear.

Just an FYI so you can get familiar with our community, our current NeedleWorkMonday staff consists of two administrators which is myself and @marblely, one moderator @kattycrochet and three community builders @neumannsalva, @romeskie and @lauramica. Please feel free to reach out to any of us if you have any questions 😉. @Crystalize was a big part of the growth of this community but due to work related reasons she had to step away.

Every week needleworkers from around the globe get together to share our work, patterns, tips, ideas and shortcuts as we support one another. Our goal is to inspire the Hive blockchain to give crafting a try.

On Monday’s we use the #needleworkmonday tag and on all other days we use the #needlework tag without the word Monday attached. We share and post our work directly from the Community page.

We encourage our members to share about their needlework life with us. We love hearing stories and what types of things inspired your projects. We challenge you to put some feeling and emotion into your publications and help us get to know the needler behind the fabric.

Feel free to share photos of your work but it’s optional if you choose to share the steps with us (we do require you share the step process in at least one of your posts for validation purposes). If you just want to needle and share about that time we’d love to hear about it. 😊

For more information about what we do and for our posting guidelines please visit our FAQs.

Hi 🙋 thanks for visiting my blog. I greet you from Venezuela, a Latin American and Caribbean country. We are a tropical country, so we all use sometime this kind of shoes.

I really liked the description you made of your work and the emphasis you put on teamwork. That is a good thing. The more ideas you contribute the better the result.

I have tried to make shoes, but I don't have the soles. It is laborious. I only made three or four pairs of sandals on used soles. I like the result, but it tires my hands.

I wish you much success in shoemaking. Welcome to the most beautiful and welcoming #hive community. I'm Lelys 🤝
