NeedleWorkMonday: My Team Half-Sandals Production on Demand Without Measurement

(Edited)

My regards to all my friends here in this community, today am sharing with you about a half-sandals my team just worked on now within some hours ago. We actually made the half-sandals based on demand from one of our regular customers. The customer told us that his son has been disturbing him for new sandals as their school is about to close and he wants to look clean for an inter-school competition that would be coming up soon.

Well, one of the challenges that we faced with this customer based on his demand for his son's sandals was that he never had the boy's footwear size but in order for us not to lose the work, we have to use my teams experience on the description. We told the customer to describe his son’s height but in the process, we could not dictate the leg size. All we could do again was to call a boy nearby our working shop and used the boy for the description and that was how we achieved the result.

I know to some of my needlework mates, this description of choice of demand based on size determination may not look mature but when I was still learning shoemaking, knitting, crocheting, and sewing. My master used work with this local method we just applied here. The most important thing is for someone who knows the person that will be wearing the sandals and for him/her to be able to describe better with practicality by bringing a person with the same height and most especially in the leg. But this method is not advisable for every needleworker because it takes experience to do this type of work and most customers may give the wrong description.

The material we used for the working of the sandals:

The manual Sewing machine is used to sew the designed leathers for shoes, sandals, slippers, and bag-making based on the choice of demand. The sewing machine must be fixed with a needle that will be used for sewing.

Sole is a material that is used in making shoes, sandals, and slippers by shoemakers or needleworkers. The sole is always in a leather form but tick and strong with some designs under the sole. The reason for some strong designs under a sole for shoemaking is to make the sole last long because before the designs would have pulled off, the owner must have spent time with the sandals or shoe.

Leather is a soft material for shoemaking. The leather is used to enhance the beauty of the sandals gotten from the designer’s choice of the sandals to be produced.

A buckle is a small piece of designed aluminum in a painted form of different colors, shapes, and sizes. The buckle is mostly used in producing sandals to enable the owner tight or lose during wear. The buckle is also for designs just as we used to design the half-sandals.

How we make the sandals:

You have to know the size of sandals that you are working for and then measure it out with tape.

Make sure that your sole and leather is ready. Some of the soles are already measured in the market, if you like you can buy them but for the leather, you must measure.

Use a scissors or cutter to carve out the measured leather based on your choice of beauty, design, and description of the outcome that you want. When cutting leather please be careful to avoid damage of material or injury.

Sew the top leather with a sewing machine and shoe-making thread. Remember that you can only sew with the help of a needle and thread. What you are sewing should be in line with your choice of demand and how it will look whenever you finish the work.

Sandpaper your sole for crack before you gum.

When you are satisfied that every material for the sandals is ready and has passed some processes for production.

Gum your sole and the leather. After you must have gum the sole and leather with the help of a brush. Then allow the sole and leather to dry under the sun or hot area for some hours.

Fix your half sandals by gumming the sole and the leather together. Use a hammer to hit the half-sandals with carefulness.

Yes, it did because i called the father after he took the sandals home and he congratulated my team and told me that the sandals were perfect for the boy. Thanks for reading

I always learn from reading your posts. You and your team go through a great deal of work to create beautiful products. That leather looks so smooth and comfortable.

I’ve had to crochet hats by guessing the size of client’s heads so I know how tricky that guessing game can be.

Great work and so glad to hear the sandals fit your customer :)
