Despite having a book club (which I have somewhat abandoned) where interesting books are constantly read like the one I am about to write (If you want to join, you can! Click here: Club de Lectura de Hive), I hadn't had the space until I started this book and I will later tell you why.

Before starting a new book like my new habit is "forcing" me to do, I wanted to write to you about "Atomic Habits" by author James Clear, a book that I did not expect anything from but gave me so much that I decided to write about it.

It is no secret that December is the month of resolutions and January is the month of starting them, and for me one of them is to return to a habit that once brought me many beautiful emotions because it was my first connection with stories that I couldn't imagine in my childhood, such as the Harry Potter series and some books by Coelho when I was in high school.

On Twitter there was a strong trend to start the year reading "Atomic Habits," something I had put off quite a bit (on Goodreads it shows that I started it on January 18th of last year) and taking advantage of this wave of people reading it, I started reading it again but with the added benefit that since mid-last year, thanks to the store Somos Mentes Curiosas on Instagram, I was able to acquire the physical version. And yes, reading physically is always more comfortable, it gives you a better experience, touches more of your senses and gives you the option of marking by hand those phrases that reach your heart or brain.

Almost immediately after I started the book, a challenge called "#LeyendoJuntos365" came out, which is derived from "#EstudiandoJuntos365" and is about the following: make a daily tweet with the progress of your reading until you finish the 365 days of the year. I started this challenge on January 7th with this book and finished yesterday, here's the tweet.

I wanted to give you all that context so that if you want, you can join the challenge, it's quite satisfying to see others accomplish it and this book will explain why that is the other reason why I did it.

Here I don't come to sell you to buy a book or read it necessarily because I don't feel that that is a true reason to create a post about something I like but with the intention that my words may take your curiosity to read a little about the book and thus maybe you can take a look at it or finish it in a few days (11 exactly) that it took me.

My next book will be more or less on the same topic, that's why I didn't want to start it before writing about this but without further ado, let's begin!

Atomic Habits" is a 326-page book in its softcover physical version from Ediciones Paidós (the version I have) which is part of the Penguin Random House publishing house that has branches in several parts of America and also in Europe. This book is written by James Clear who, like us here on Hive, began creating content on a website about his day to day and today has a website with over 2 million monthly visits, a global best-seller book and many more reasons why he is the ideal person to write this book and give us the best advice on "how to make new habits and banish old ones," as the cover of his book says, which we refer to in this post.

In addition to the "Conclusion" and the "Appendix", Clear in his book gives us 18 chapters which are divided into 6 important modules that take you by the hand to the art of how to start leaving behind those somewhat retrograde ideas that new habits are only those that are made constantly and equally for 90 consecutive days so that you do it automatically for the rest of your life.

James, through a quite clear and simple way of understanding, explains to us with examples and quotes from recognized authors, tweets from those authors and even quotes from Game of Thrones, one of the best series that has come out (an idea that we both share), about how good habits can change your life day by day, how to implement them so that that happens and how to monitor them so that they don't become a double-edged sword in your near future.

The author writes mostly in English on his website and his newsletter, however, it is content that he creates himself, which is available on his website, which complements in a quite satisfactory way everything taught in the book and also encourages us to have activities that make us fulfill what we want like putting calendars, records, among others.

To tell you something else is to spoil the book, although following it on Twitter makes it inevitable, but the path that teaches you in the book is not something that you can simply read through his tweets and the results are not something that I can tell you until you have them.

The creation of habits is an activity that we all do since we have reason, like washing our hands a lot and more often since the pandemic or brushing our teeth often, but learning why this is, how our brain interprets it and how to make that same thing work for all our good habits is the key to this text.

Without a doubt, for me, it is a book that should be read more than once because it is one of those few that are for life.

If you already read it leave your comment and if not, here is my quite general point of view of it.

¡Hola, Albani!

Hi! It was quite difficult not to give spoilers because the name of the book more or less gives you spoilers, but it worked, hihi.
