Long Term Savings

Ever since learning about Hive, I have considered it as my long-term savings account and so I consciously make a point to grow it. There was a time when I was able to do daily blogging (even 2x a day) but there would be times when real life catches up and I won't be able to post for a string of several days. Keeping my Hive powered up though enables me to grow it through active curation and through staking APR (2.86% as of this writing).

Looking Back to April 2022

I tried and was able to publish a total of 7 blog posts in April. Thankfully, I got a good sum of post rewards last month and I ended up with a total of 256.8 HP.

It was also in the month of April when I decided to make a cold Hive wallet account through the Hive Ledger Online Wallet developed by @engrave.

The idea is to set up a separate account where you will store your Hive and HBD, kept for savings and HP delegations, perhaps. It is not recommended to link the account you use for posting (such as this) because the Hive frontends like peakd and hive.blog do not support Ledger integration yet.

With the added layer of security provided by the Ledger hardware device, I now start to grow my cold wallet account. This is where I intend to keep subsequent HBD savings and future Hive power stake.

Power Up

Upon waking up on the morning of May 1st, I saw that the price of Hive has gone down below $0.80. This was a good buying opportunity for me and I decided to buy back 100 Hive before the price bounces back.

This 100 Hive was sent to my cold wallet account and Powered up. I just realized that I won't get the power up badge on my main account, but that is secondary since now my goal is to keep my funds extra safe in my cold wallet.

After powering up, of course, the Hive power needs to be used in active curation hence it was delegated to this main account.

All the same, you did power up, I apologize because you won't be getting a badge though. It's a good thing to keep your funds safe. Do you also receive the 20% interest rate on saved HBD in your cold wallet?

Congratulations on your power up ❤️

(Edited)

Yeah, I'll miss the badge on this account. Hehe

Yep, 20% HBD interest is still there. It's still the same as any hive account but the difference is that the keys are saved on the hardware device so it always needs confirmation from the device to make transaction like power up or funds transfer.
