Is it really Arsenal if we're not using the hard route?

image.png

We're the Arsenal, we always do it the hard way. I mean, how else can you explain our last 6 matches?

After squeezing out a 0-1 win against Villa, we went on to lose 3 goals on the spin. After that, we then went on to grab 7 goals against Chelsea and United, winning both matches with two goals margin.

I'm not going to say I'm tired of Arsenal but I honestly can't make any sense of what kind of season we're having.

One minute, everyone is bashing us about how we always lose to top teams and the next minute, we're beating two top teams consecutively.

There's just way too much drama with all things Arsenal. We're a very unpredictable football club that sometimes defies logic.

Today was yet another beautiful day of football, as we got the game week started with a win. It only took us 2 minutes to grab the first goal through Tavares and I hoped it would herald a proper hiding.

Instead, we let United take control and they could have easily gotten a goal or two in the first half. The first one was from a Diogo Dalot rifle that struck the upright and then a contentious VAR call that favoured Arsenal when Cedric seemed to have handled the ball.

However, while we got lucky for the Dalot shot, the VAR call was in line with the rules. The rules clearly state that as long as the player(Cedric) on the floor doesn't outstretch his hand, it's not going to count as a handball.

It would have been very harsh to give United that penalty for the Cedric situation. However, in this fixture, I've seen United get shadier calls in their favour.

After surviving the united onslaught, we found ourselves in the lead once again but that was ruled out as offside. However, in the build up, a tackle by Alex Telles was ruled to be a penalty.

Saka stepped up and dispatched the penalty to put as 2 ahead. Only 2 minutes later, Ronaldo got his customary goal against us to end the half 2-1.

The second half was very nervy at the start and we had a lot of luck.

From the Fernandez penalty miss, to the Ronaldo offside that was only marginal. We rode our luck for a large part.

Xhaka's long range thumper gave us the 3rd goal and some comfort. This settled nerves and we looked much better.

The third goal was also contentious because replay shows that Eddie Nketiah, in an offside position, obstructed the view of the hopeless David De Gea. VAR checked it and we're satisfied, so the goal was given.

Conclusion

We rode our luck for some spells but overall, we were the deserved winners of the match.

There were numerous errors in our game and on another day, against better opposition, we could have been punished.

We got the three points and are now in 4th position. We need Brentford to do us a favour later today, and we also need to focus on our next game.

There are only 5 games left for us, and we've gotten past the tough games. We're still in the run for UCL football next season and there's a feeling that we can actually get it. Until we meet again, up the Arsenal.

Another huge win today to keep the pressure on Spurs, our boy Nketiah is playing well and fighting to keep his place now he's been given the chance and now its all in your own hands.

You'll be losing at least one more game this season, however ;-)

If we lose one and win the rest of our matches, we'll almost certainly finish in 4th place. Hell, we might even be much closer to Chelsea I'm third.

I'm not going to say I'm tired of Arsenal but I honestly can't make any sense of what kind of season we're having. — constant back and forths can be so tiring honestly. What Arsenal over the years has seemed to lack is being consistent. That shit fucks with the team year in year out , deepsigh

I would have to say Arsenal impressed me and their wins against Chelsea and United showed they have the mental strength to stake their claim for the top 4 and I believe they can take it. Tottenham is too inconsistent to disturb them but they have to keep taking their chances more to stay there ahead of Spurs. They should get one over their North London rival.

The problem is that we are also inconsistent. How did we lose three games on the spi, then go around to win Chelsea and United. It makes no sense.

If we had gotten points in some of the games we lost, we would have been third by now.

I absolutely agree with that. I just love how exciting Arsenal players are. I hope they hold on this time around.
