The Procession on the Day of Ashura, a day of worldwide grief and sorrow.

WHAT HAPPENED ON THE DAY OF ASHURA?

The day of Ashura is a source of great grief and sorrow for the Shitte community. What exactly is Ashura? The day when the prophet's grandson is slaughtered and martyred by a group of Yazidis. They were subjected to a slew of difficulties and problems. They were severely brutalised, and water was cut off to them. That day is still commemorated by the Shiite community. The tenth of MOHARAM is the day of Ashura, when Shias around the world gather to protest brutality and express their grief and sorrow for the Imam.

MOURNING AND TAPPING TO SHARE GREID AND SORROW

On this day, people mourn and tap their chests to express their sorrow to the prophet's family. The same day is observed in my city, and I took part in the protest and captured some images. This is a memorable and educational day, and I urge everyone in the world, regardless of religion, to read the history of Ashura, which occurred on the holy land of Karbala. There is a great lesson for every religion in the fact that Imam Hussain was oppressed and his and his family's rights were forcibly taken away.

ASHURA PROCESSION ON THE STREETS AND MAIN BAZAR

The protest began at 9 a.m. yesterday with a procession through various streets and the main Bazar. The procession is stopped at Junction Chowk for various speeches and to share what brutality was done to the Holy Imam. There is also singing of various nohas to express grief and sorrow to the prophet's family. The day was extremely hot, but a large crowd turned out to express solidarity and to send a message to the rest of the world about what happens on this day.

I photographed the procession, which included a large crowd of people tapping their chest and mourning the death of Imam. The first image is a selfie of mine in which I covered my head with a cloth due to the high temperature at the time. People are gathered on my backside, shouting slogans. People were reciting Nohas from the top of the van, which had loud speakers installed.

SECURITY FORCES DEPLOYED FOR THE PROTECTION OF PROCESSION

To provide security to the protestors, high alert security forces were deployed to protect the procession. This is a peaceful protest, and no hate speech or action will be seen. Thus, the primary goal of this day is to publicise the purpose of the day and to inform the public about what occurred on this day. This procession lasts until late at night, after which it returns to its original location.

STORY OF KARBALA IS THE GREAT LESSON FOR THE MANKIND

This is a brief summary of the day, which I attempted to explain with pictures. I hope you will read the story of Ashura, the day of grief and sorrow, at least once. You will understand many of the realities behind this and why billions of people around the world took to the streets on this day. I hope you enjoyed the read and the pictures. If so, please leave your feedback in the comments section so that the next post can be even better. Thank you for sticking with me until the end.
