Nigerian youth and their mentality about cryptocurrency

In Nigeria, youths have been in the front cover when it comes to self-made entrepreneurs, 60% of the Nigerian youths are hustling daily with business, investing in cryptocurrency and few utilizing their skills to make ends meet. While the other 40% are either lazy to start up something, waiting for the government to create a job platform (which the government won’t).

They are two thoughts concerning the Nigeria youths, they are criminals or scammers. Well I wouldn’t completely rule that thoughts out but currently most Nigeria youths are now into crypto, trading and investing while some that don’t fully understand the concept and focused on other ways to make quick cash because that’s the mentality of youths these days, making of quick cash.

Yesterday about 9am, I decided to go trim my hair at my regular shop; fortunately I got to hear them talking about crypto and to my surprise they were disparaging crypto. They actually think Bitcoin is owned by the United States to control the world economy using one currency and Elon Musk is the owner of Doge coin, I was in a state of turmoil and as a newbie too to crypto, I didn’t know where to begin to convince them about their false knowledge.

I started doing some Google search for them, explaining different cryptocurrency terms and showing them different platforms which they can use to trade. Also explaining the peer to peer trading which is has been the major way of trading crypto in Nigeria since the government restricted it.
After enough arguments and convincing, I was happy to introduce two out five into the circle of trading with binance platform using P2P.

Well it’s shocking that some still think crypto is a Ponzi scheme owned by someone, well I can’t really blame them because there have been so many Ponzi schemes that have gotten away with billions of dollars, just earlier this month a couple flees with over $53m, so there’s little or no trust when it comes to investing especially when it involves you watching your money rise and fall. But for all in all, crypto is still the best form of investment especially when you fully understand the concept of it and how to trade with it.

It will be interesting to see how wealth transfers from once considered "developed" nations into regions where the general population has been much more open to cryptocurrencies.
