PARTYCLE #1 - SMIRNOFF BLOCK PARTY.

I went to a party on Saturday. I haven't been to a party in months so this was great. Before I go to a party or any social gathering, I have to mentally prepare myself for it for about two weeks to the date. This time, I didn't have two weeks to prepare, just two days. My friend found out about this party on Instagram, we registered on their website for free passes(early bird benefits) and waited for the D-day.

The day came and I got ready. I wasn't sure what to do with my hair. I tried moving up my appointment when I learned about the party but I couldn't. I suck as styling my hair but I did my best. Got in my slightly slutty yet elegant dress, ordered a ride and headed to the groove center. The party was at a popular event center in Lagos. I got there and wound up in the wrong event.

This would be a good time to mention that I went with my friend Jessica. She is an important character to this story. We found our way to the right party; the crowd was crazy and we quickly joined the queue to scan our passes. It took a little longer for me to access my pass because of traffic but, I soon did and shortly I was in the hall way taking mirror selfies and videos with Jessica.

We went to the bar for some drinks. We couldn't get free drinks cause they said our voucher had expired. Fuckers! We bought some drinks, rolled a joint to set the mood and the party girls got activated. This party involved lots of gallivanting and avoiding thirsty men who refuse to grasp the simple concept of ‘No’ and boundaries.

This is where it gets more interesting. I met this guy whom I ended up spending a lot of my party time with; not by choice but because he just wouldn’t let go. He followed me to the rest room, to hit my joint, to do whatever. I felt suffocated and told him a million times that he was making me uncomfortable. He would pretend to leave me alone and next thing I know he’s beside me again with a mouth full of apologies compliments. Urgh!

I nearly lost my mind when he mistakenly spilled his drink on my arm and started licking it off with his tongue. I was too stunned to speak. @tengolotodo you wanted to know who ate me at the party so there you have it. I told him off and raced off to the bathroom to wash my arm. Did he stop following me? No!
Whole time I was looking for Jessica because we had split up earlier. I needed her to come save me from this party pest but she was nowhere to be found.

I went on to see some of the performing artists. The first spot I took wasn’t great. Because I’m 5’1 and couldn’t see anything that was happening on the stage. My personal bodyguard suggested we move a little to the back and voila! I could see. Truth is, I didn’t care much for the artists as I was only a fan of one and already saw her perform - Ayra Star.

FINDING JESSICA.

I was going on another trip to the restroom when I finally found my friend. She looked like she was fresh out of a funeral. She was moody and wasn’t forthcoming with the cause of her mood swing. Mind you, she was crazy about coming to this party so why she’s gloomy in the midst of alcohol, music and other fun substances was something I couldn’t understand. I asked her to come with me to the bathroom so we can have some girls talk but she wanted to go for a walk instead so, we parted ways again.

The party was already coming to an end at this point and most people had started leaving. But not my body guard. He said the lights will soon go off and the main party will get started. Wow! Some part of me wanted to see what that would be like and another part of me was skeptical about it. I’m 25 years old and I’ve got responsibilities; I can’t party all night to morning. This was around 2am and I could really use my sleep and morning yoga.

Jessica calls. She’s at the parking lot. She wanted to leave. Party pooper much. I found her and her mood hadn’t improved.
We had a plan for our coming and leaving this party. The plan was to come in a ride, a fancy one so we chose Lagos ride. Click here to see the ride we went in.
For going, we were to ride the bus as we must have spent most of our money on drinks and drugs.

The problem is that our bus riding plan depended on partying all night because we can’t get a bus by midnight. And now she wants to leave by 2am. I ordered us a ride and we went home in silence.

Later in the day, she opens up about why she was the way she was. She said I left her at the party to hang with someone else. Dude! I was literally fighting for my life and needed you to come to my rescue. 🤦🏾‍♀️
But I also understood her because I was supposed to be her friend at the party and she was all alone. It wasn’t my fault. It was a tough crowd and I couldn’t reach her cell.

She apologized for her poor communication skills and I apologized too. Not sure what for but yeah.
It was a fun party, I guess.
One thing that stood out for me was the number of beautiful women and men I saw, with their beautiful outfits and swag. It was a delightful sight. I’ll rate this party a 6/10.

Not sure when I’ll be doing this again but I will. There are going to be lots of parties in the coming month and I’ll most likely go to one or two.

Party was at Landmark events. Earlier this year, I was at Landmark beach for a party too. This time it wasn’t on the beach.
