The Apocalypse 2

"I thought of ending It all at some point but then I ran into you. When I saw you, all that came to my mind was, I must not fail this young man.—"

Harry was cut short by the sound of a gunshot

" Shit, we were supposed to be looking out." he shouted

He looked down and the creatures were approaching the warehouse. His heart stopped for a second and flashbacks of his wife and kid played in his head.

"Harry, snap out of it" John shouted, bringing Harry back to the real world.

They both picked up their rifles and aimed at the creatures down below, there were five of them. One of them had ripped the warehouse door off of its hinges and two went in. Harry got a perfect head shot alerting the other two of their whereabouts. John's heart was racing and he began spraying bullets roundabout. The creatures momentarily used the door as a shield before hauling it towards the rooftop. Harry and John ducked for their safety. This gave the creatures time to start climbing. Harry dragged John and they ran the opposite direction. Without hesitation they both jumped down.

The sound of gunshots and screams filled the air. Harry looked towards the woods, then back at the warehouse. He was contemplating abandoning the others. He took a deep breath, then he hit the lock of the warehouse backdoor multiple times with his gun's backstock till it opened. They both walked in and shut the door.

The lights were out, so they could barely see anything.

"All we need to do is get as many people as we can and some of our supplies and get the hell out of here. Ok?" Harry whispered.

John nodded in agreement. All of a sudden they heard footsteps. They both hid behind a rack. Their guns outstretched and ready to fire. The footsteps got closer and closer. Harry was about to pull the trigger then he met a familiar gaze. It was Marla.

"Oh, thank goodness." He said

Tears were dropping from her eyes. She looked like she'd seen a ghost. John took the bag she was holding from her shoulders.

"Where are the others?" Harry asked.

"I don't know, we all ran in different directions after it..."

She wiped her teary eyes

"Ralph is gone."

Ralph was the toughest in the group, and very smart too. Harry's head was spinning.

They silently continued their search to find the others. Then they heard a large screeching sound. Harry peaked from behind a shelf to see. one of the creatures grabbing someone by their throat. It was suffocating the person, and then It brought out its long slender tongues and used them to pull out the person's eyes. The person struggled even more, trying to scream in pain. Then it opened its large mouth and bit off the person's head, putting them out of their misery. Harry's heart rate shot up as it looked in his direction.

He didn't need to tell the others as they took to their heels as well. They hid beside one of the forklifts and prepared themselves to shoot.

"Remember, don't shoot unless you have a clear head shot." He whispered to John as he set himself to take a shot.

The creature was approaching sniffing the area as it walked, it could tell they were close by. John hurriedly took a shot which hit the creature on its chest. It shrieked as it ran towards them, but luckily Harry was able to get the head.

"I said aim for the head" he said

"I'm sorry" John replied

"Let's go fast, the others will be coming this way very soon."

They rushed forward trying to get away from the dead creature as fast as possible. It was then they met the others. Harry counted, they were only five. Three men, two women.

"The others?"

"Not sure they made it." said one of them.

Harry sighed.

"The supplies?" he asked

"Whe have some of it."

"OK, let's go through the back. Be careful everyone."

He took John's gun from him and gave it to one of the men, Adam. John was genuinely disappointed in himself.

They managed to get to the back door without getting spotted.

"Ok guys, once we go out we head straight into the forest. I don't know if there's anything out there, but it's our best shot at getting away from these creatures." Harry said

"Why not just stay and kill them? We've already gotten two." John suggested.

"And lost how many? huh."

John did say anything.

"OK go"

He opened the door and they started running towards the forest. Next thing they knew two of those creatures appeared out of nowhere and started chasing them. One of the men tripped and instantly the creatures grabbed him and ripped him in half. The others didn't even look back for fear of being caught.

The monsters continued their chase. As they ran deeper into the forest fatigue started setting in. It was then Harry and John began to feel the impact of their jump from the top of the warehouse. They were almost out of breath when all of a sudden there was a loud shriek. The first creature dropped dead. Then another shriek and the second one followed. They stopped and breathed a sigh of relief. Harry went to examine what caused them to die.

"Gunshot wounds," he said.

He scanned the area to see who could have taken the shot
