Stamps - History of Russian Trains - First Russian Steam locomotive Cherepanovs 1833-1834 - USSR 1978 - Michel 4715 - my hobby.

Greetings friends!

1978 is already the time that I can remember.
I was already 5 years old and some moments from life in the USSR were already clear to me.

At the time, postage stamps were not a cheap toy, since salaries were low.

Even a one-kopeck stamp was straining my pocket.

But, parents pampered their children and wanted the children to have a hobby and to develop diversified.

Thanks to this, postage stamps appeared in my house.

One of those, the first series of postage stamps, has survived to this day.

I really liked steam locomotives.

Favorite toy is an electric railway, brought from the GDR and worth fabulous money.

And today, the topic of the steam engine, for me, as for all of you, is relevant, lol.

But, I did not think at the time that a steam engine could appear in the Hive.

So, I want to show you a series of stamps that depict steam locomotives. These stamps were issued in the USSR in 1978.

The first stamp in this series depicts the first Russian steam locomotive, which was designed by the Cherepanovs father and son.

At that time, 1833-1834, it was not an easy task.

This year, you can turn any valve on a lathe and build any circuit based on the experience of the first movers.

Then, at the time, it was a colossally difficult task.

Many problems arose, but they were solved and the locomotive started off.

As you can see in the first photo, today I present a postage stamp that bears the post office stamp, in other words, it is a canceled stamp.

There is a stereotype - a postage stamp with a post office mark is worth nothing, but this is a delusion.

If we take a clean postage stamp as a unit and call it gold, then a canceled stamp is silver, which costs 4-10 times cheaper, no more.

But, there are times when a canceled postage stamp can cost many times more than an uncanceled stamp.

In the event that, there is no longer a post office that has put my mark on the stamp, or there is no longer such a country. The USSR no longer exists and the question of the price of postage stamps is directly proportional to the time.

In my collection there are extinguished marks that serve as a beacon for me. I can see which stamps I need to purchase so that I have both canceled and uncanceled stamps.

In the second photo you can see the same stamp, but without the post office stamp.

Both brands are in excellent condition.

First Russian Steam locomotive Cherepanovs 1833-1834 - History of Russian Trains.
This stamp is in denomination of 1 kopeck.
You can see this brand in the Michel catalog under the number 4715.
Dimensions - 32.5 x 65 mm.
Circulation: 7400000 copies.
Date of issue - 20 April, 1978.

I am very happy when my collection develops. This series of posts encourages me to return to my hobby, which I began to forget.

I see that I need to remember a lot and develop this direction in the future.

After all, the price of postage stamps, like the price of crypto coins, largely depends on the awareness and interest in this product.

To be continued.

I edited a photo in the program PhotoDirector, which I also installed on my smartphone.

For my publications, I do not use stock photographs, it is fundamentally important for me to use photographs that I have made with my own hands for publication and I can name them - authorial work.

hey I like this series of yours. Do you think you could also add for each stamp the average market price?

Also another suggestion. Maybe add some quick template in your posts? Something like:

Year Issued: xxx
Country: xxx
Issuer:xxx
Original Price: x
Today Price:

Hi, thanks for the interesting tip. I will do this later. The only thing that stopped me was that, at different auctions and in different currencies, the price of stamps is very different and one can be insufficiently correct in indicating the price.

Someone asks for a lot, and someone wants too little.
But, I'll think about how to do it as correctly as possible.

Apparently, you misunderstood me. I meant that postage stamp sellers sometimes overestimate, or underestimate the price requirement. Some want $ 5.50 for this series with canceled stamps, the other wants $ 4.50 for a series with canceled stamps. And, having indicated the price, I do not want to be incorrect, it is easier to say that demand dictates supply))

Sometimes, a translation from Russian can sound dissonant, the semantic load is lost))
