RE: Follow Your Dreams

I think we have all been in this position of not chasing after some idea or job path due to the unknown (and health ins). That is a reality for a lot of people who have more than just themselves to take care of. Lot's of folks have children or elderly parents that they are responsible for, adding to the challenges of making risky moves like that.

I talk with my wife all the time about this sort of thing.. we have no dependents and no debt to speak of.. we could easily pick up and chase any dream we wanted to, yet we just keep doing what we've been doing. I can never really think of what holds us back except the unknowns of it all.. They can be scary. Also, what the hell do I want to do? I have too many crazy dreams (aka fantasies). lol.

My wife are in the same position, but we also have family and friends which I am sure you do as well who are in the area that would be hard to leave. Our jobs tend to hold us back quite a bit too. I have a feeling that won't be the case for long. More and more my wife and I just don't seem to care anymore (which sounds worse than it is). One of our biggest things is how difficult it would be to travel with or find someone to watch our puppy. We already have an understanding that when she is no longer with us we will be doing even more travelling than we already do. It would likely be a while before we could bring ourselves to have another dog anyway.

Same here. We aren't waiting for Molly to pass, but know we are going to try our hardest NOT to get another dog too soon. We have some things we would like to do on a more reasonable timeline and without worry. My wife is hating the school system right now, but the pension she has been paying into and the health benefits still are worth the effort. I wish those things were not so much at the forefront of our decisions.

I realized that came out wrong when I wrote it. We just know that Jo is 12 to 13 now and her time is limited. Yes, the school system is not what it once was. We used to feel guilty about leaving the students and staff to fend for themselves, but now it's like screw it! We need to live while we are young and able.

NOOOOooo.. I totally understood what you said. I know your not sitting around watching the clock on Jovi. Your not that heartless! lol. Their time is limited and most likely will expire before ours, so it's not bad to think about the next part of our lives. Go get it while your young is right!
