Finding Traffic

The simplest way to begin to build a list is through list building sites.

The two of the most used methods are safe lists and traffic exchanges. Both marketing methods will get your message in front of other marketers, just in different ways.

A traffic exchange is a member site where you can show your ads to other members in exchange for credits that are purchased or earned.

You can earn credits by viewing ads from the other members. Traffic exchanges have been around for over 20 years and have evolved into what you see today. They are still an effective advertising medium.

The limitation to traffic exchanges are most people will use standard affiliate pages from the programs that they are promoting, and these ads tend to get old fast.

You will be much more successful if you create your own landing page or lead capture page that stand out from the crowd.(Think Purple Cow!)

A safelist or viral mailer are sites that show your ads to members much like a traffic exchange, but the ads are delivered through email whether on site or through your personal inbox.

You will read the mail message and click a credit link that will then take you to the advertiser’s website or landing page.

Downline vs subscriber
Most any traffic generating site online will in some way involve building a downline through an affiliate program.

Building a downline is a great way to produce income or other benefits with a program, the problem is if the program fails (Not that that would ever happen) you lose all that you have built.

When you incorporate your downline into a list of subscribers, you can introduce your subscribers to new opportunities that you come across.

Remember, if a program closes, you lose your downline, but your subscriber list lives on!

Buying Leads
Buying leads is a long-practiced method of harvesting names and email addresses of potential marketers from other lists or programs.

While these leads can produce some results, they are usually a bit costly, and they have a tendency to contain subscribers who are not interested in your particular program and will eventually remove themselves from your list.

In my opinion, I would avoid buying leads and instead work to advertise to a crowd of like-minded subscribers.

In the next post we will discuss how to budget for your business.

Until next time,
John Novak

You have to have traffic. How you get it doesn't matter, you just have to have it. Some ways are better than others but that is up to each individual to determine what works best for them.

Buying leads was never a strategy that I preferred. They're usually so old and not even targeted to what I was promoting. Building a list and blogging are the ways to get the traffic and leads that are targeted to your offers

I agree, Lisa. It is not the best or most efficient method for affiliate marketing.

No, it really isn't, John. And neither are FB ads in my humble opinion. I have had experience with those too. Like putting money in slot machine and never getting anything back. And I got my Ads account shut down a couple of times and had to beg to be reinstated. Not worth the aggravation. Enjoy your day!😀
