How Do I Buy HIVE?!

So, I have had a few people question about how to buy HIVE token since it is not tradable on any of the US exchanges that I am aware of.

I already have accounts with Binance, Coinbase and Uphold and I did not want to open several more accounts just to see if they may trade HIVE token directly.

I opted to work with what I had available to me.

I started with Binance US. BIG MISTAKE! I can execute trades with them, but they told me after I made a deposit that they would need to sit on my money for 10 days.
That was a bummer because it meant missing the recent sale price of HIVE.

I next tried to use Uphold because they seem to be rather user friendly. Their platform is great for trading and sending to friends or anyone through an email and it is a necessary platform to collect my BAT from using Brave Browser. I also have it set for commissions from several programs that I promote. They are not as simple for sending to an address, however.

Then I went to my old stand-by, Coinbase. Coinbase has a simple user interface and is laid out very well for trading.
I was able to transfer funds in and access them immediately. So now I was in business!

To start the process, you will need to have funds in Coinbase, or you will need to deposit funds. They will accept direct bank deposits.
Once you have your funds in Coinbase you will want to purchase Litecoin with your funds. That will be an immediate transaction.

Now is where it gets to be fun, lol

You will need to set up your HIVE account in Tribaldex (https://tribaldex.com/). You can use Tribaldex to purchase or exchange any of the HIVE based tokens and several other tokens. First thing to do in Tribaldex is click on the wallet symbol in the right upper corner of the page.

Home-Tribaldex.png

That will take you to the Wallet page. There you will see a button for Deposit and one for Withdraw.

Click on Deposit and it will take you to this screen…

You will then select LiteCoin (LTC) for the token you wish to deposit, and this will now show the address that you will be sending your Litecoin to.

You will go back to Coinbase and you will click on the “Send / Receive" button in the top right corner of the page.

You will now select “pay with” and use the dropdown for Litecoin. You will now copy the address from Tribaldex and paste it into the “To” field.

NOTE: Be careful to fully copy the address and paste it correctly or you may lose your deposit. You can test it with a small amount of Litecoin if you would feel more comfortable. If the address is wrong, you will lose your funds.

Once you are ready to transfer your funds, click continue. You will now see a confirmation page and you will click ‘Send now”. It will ask for confirmation again and when you confirm you will be sent an SMS code if you have that set up in your account for verification.
Then click “Done”

The transaction can take up to 30 minutes depending on network traffic but when it is complete you will see your Litecoin tokens in your Tribaldex Wallet.

From there you can go back to your Tribaldex wallet and once the funds are showing in Swap.LTC then you can exchange them for Swap.Hive.

I hope this helps someone. If I made an error, please make note of it in the comments section.

Until next time,
John Novak

The people doing V2K with remote neural monitoring want me to believe this lady @battleaxe is an operator. She is involved deeply with her group and @fyrstikken . Her discord is Battleaxe#1003. I cant prove she is the one directly doing the V2K and RNM. Doing it requires more than one person at the least. It cant be done alone. She cant prove she is not one of the ones doing it. I was drugged in my home covertly, it ended badly. They have tried to kill me and are still trying to kill me. I bet nobody does anything at all. Ask @battleaxe to prove it. I bet she wont. They want me to believe the V2K and RNM in me is being broadcast from her location. And what the fuck is "HOMELAND SECURITY" doing about this shit? I think stumbling over their own dicks maybe? Just like they did and are doing with the Havana Syndrome https://ecency.com/fyrstikken/@fairandbalanced/i-am-the-only-motherfucker-on-the-internet-pointing-to-a-direct-source-for-voice-to-skull-electronic-terrorism

This looks like a good method. Maybe in a better financing situation, I'd follow your lead.

Similar here @beststart . I mean early on, I went a bit overboard; because of not knowing the ins and outs. Binance US was a dud for me.

I currently use Coinbase mostly, to do my transactions; for the purpose of investing through Hive-Engine. Most purchasing LiteCoin or getting commissions in LiteCoin and depositing it into Hive-Engine and converting it into Swap-Hive.

Uphold for my BAT as well including some affiliate programs (not many).

I have Crypto and FTX accounts that I really don't use much.

Overall, Coinbase to Hive-Engine is the most simple for this techno klutz lol.

It's always helpful to do what you are doing with helpful tips like your post. I'm not coordinated enough to do that. 😆

Thanks for sharing this method of getting money into the system. It is really challenging to get money into the system safely.

I have found it very easy to use Uphold to send to Block trades.
I usually send in Litecoin and Block trades exchanges it automatically to hive. It usually takes about 10 to 15 minutes.
It is funny because when I used Coinbase I thought it was more complicated. Maybe I will have another go. I think I have a little money in there.

As far as Binance goes. I don't like it. To many hoops to jump through and then like you said they want to hold onto your money. It is not easy to use in the beginning. I have heard that it gets easier the longer you use them but I don't have the patience.

I have not tried Tribaldex yet.

It is interesting the differing experience that people have with these exchanges.
I also prefer leodex for all of the Hive secondary Crypto trading instead of Hive Engine.
Thanks for another great article

Thanks Tom, I appreciate your input and experiences as well. I may have been a little harsh on Uphold. It looks like Binance EU is easier to use but I cannot confirm that since I am not aloud to log on there, lol

It still looks like coinbase is one of the best options. I never liked Binance US because I tried to do KYC and it messed up on me. It also didn't look like I would get the trading discounts either. As for uphold, I use it collect BAT like you but I have seen my ad revenue drop a ton after I linked my wallet.

@jfang003, I have noticed the drop in revenue this past month as well. Thought it was just a coincidence.

The drop has happened a few months back. I have a feeling they are learning and they just decided that I wasn't worth the extra ads I guess. I tend to only get the ad for opening up a new tab and nothing else now.

Great post John, you have laid out nice easy steps to follow using fiat to buy swap.hive.

I do all of the first half but then I just send it as Litecoin to blocktrades.us and it converts it to hive and puts it in my hive wallet automatically. I normally want the Hive in my wallet but if you are looking for swap.hive then your method is probably better.

It's good to see this process explained from an American standpoint. Since I live in Europe, I can buy HIVE directly on Binance and send it to Hive.

Thank you, John, I needed this. In the past, I have spent hours trying to get crypto bought and sold. Now, if I could just get the US banks on board, I would be all set.

Glad you found it useful Bob. In time the US banks will come around. I think they are afraid of crypto.

Thanks for sharing your Hive buying experience. I find Coinbase way easier and faster to use for buying Crypto and Hive in particular. When I first started I was using Uphold. I had a hard time with figuring it out and Jon and Blain were very patient with me. It took me several times to get it on Uphold. When I tried to buy using my bank account the transaction was on hold for over 40 days and then they wouldn't take my debit card. That's when I switched over to Coinbase.

Thank you Lisa for sharing your experience as well. Hopefully newbies wont have to jump through the same hoops as we did. Thanks for your support.

This is a great & useful post. I wish I had something like this when I started using hive. I also use coinbase but I use Blocktrades to get my Hive.
It took me like 6 months to learn to buy hive cause there was no instructions anywhere, So this will be good for new people coming to hive.
