RE: The Benefits Of Showing Up.

You are viewing a single comment's thread:

oh - a formatting suggestion for you.
In your cover image, you used black font on a very dark background.

I see you used canva - if you use white font, and then select the word and click on "effects" and then add "lift" or "shadow" it will make the white font pop out evenly across a varied (but mostly dark) background.

Thank you for pointing that out and for your advice on how to fix it. That makes perfect sense and I really do appreciate it!

I'll definitely make use of it in my future images.

Can I make one more suggestion for you? :)

I saw that you upvoted @biggerjoe's comments - and that's awesome!! hehehe

But you most likely have... yep - just checked your wallet, hehehe You are a newbie. Which means your vote is low.

Nothing to be ashamed of in the least! We all start somewhere right??
I'm not saying that to make you feel bad hahahaha

BUT.

its BEST if you drop your upvote onto a post for right now. (instead of on comments)

why?

Because Hive has a "dust threshhold". That means - that any amount on a post or comment that doesn't meet at least 2 cents - will be burned /turned into dust.

So when you ADD you upvote to a POST. That's great!! Because you add it to the pool already there :)

But your comment to Joe was 1 cent, meaning - it used up your voting power, but it would eventually get turned to dust since it didn't reach the threshhold.

I know you're gonna say next - but Joe doesn't have posts. hahaha He only writes comments :)

yes - you CAN just forego what I just said - and show him your appreciation, even knowing that it would turn to dust.

That is ABSOLUTELY always welcome (I'm speaking for him - because I know his heart - and I would fee the SAME way) upvotes from newbies are WAY MORE PRECIOUS than whale upvotes to me - because they COST THE NEWBIES SO MUCH!!!!

so - please do NOT hear this the wrong way. It's SO APPRECIATED!!! hehehe

but I also just want you to know what you're doing when you do it. knowledge is best - always!

but - I did vote both of your upvotes there too - so you didn't lose it ;)
I just pushed it over the 2 cent limit. now your voting was not in vain hehehehe

sorry for this MASSIVE "dust threshold" lesson in your comment section hahahahahaha but - sometimes this is the only way! hehehe

hope that helps! :)

(p.s. - so in short, until you have an upvote that is 2 cents - only add your vote to something that already has passed the dust thresshold. You can STILL vote - if you like! with a lower upvote. But just know that if no one comes along to push it up - it will turn to dust. The person you upvoted will STILL feel your love, regardless hehehe but this is more for you preserving your voting power, and adding that vote to where it can do the most for everyone! you, them, and the community hehe)

Thank you so much for this great lesson in how voting works in the comments. I heard about this dust stuff and had no clue what they were talking about.

I don't take this up in the wrong way at all, believe me! On the contrary, I cannot express how much I appreciate you explaining this to me!

And yes, I was looking for content on the profile for @biggerjoe, but now it makes sense after what you've told me.

I am so glad I met you guys here. I am already learning so much from you, thank you.

I am going to copy and paste your explanation and keep it for future reference!

people wonder what I get out of it - and I get what we all get. a better platform that thrives ;)
