Three Tune Tuesday : The Strokes With A Twist

I have always liked the Strokes ever since their first album "Is this it". When we were broke Mcgintys and stayed home and played cards in college there was only two albums we all could agree in and one was The Strokes "Is This It." So naturally this whole album was the soundtrack to my entire college life.
I have always kept them close to my heart ever since and even though their later albums were not world record breaking albums they were still actually rather good albums in their own right.
It's funny because you look at the Strokes as this gritty American band from New York but lead singer Julian Casablanca's dad was a seriously wealthy businessman. His dad founded Elite Model Management and his mother was a Danish supermodel. Not the average Joe then. He sent Julian to an elite private school in Switzerland and it was there he met Albert Hammond Junior. Another non average Joe. So these guys born with not only silver but platinum spoons in their mouths were so down with the New York music scene and made it global with their hit single "Last Night" where you basically play one string on the guitar for 3 minutes.

It was so simple that it was genius. I can actually hear that string in my head as I write. I always laughed at this song. The drumming is bloody amazing though. Sometimes I think the really rich can be the most creative because they have fuck all worries in life so they can just do as they want and this spurns creativity or drug overdose. Either or.

I always quite liked the Stroke's guitar solos. Straight to the point and never overplayed and Albert Hammond Junior had this unique way of reigning the solo in at the right time. On their song "Under Cover of Darkness" the solo just blends in perfectly. It's one of my favourite songs. Last Night is not one of the three tunes by the way. I am going down another avenue with this one.

Introducing Inés Adam. @blackdaisyft may know her as she is down her part of the world. She is famous (well I know of her and maybe a couple of more thousand) for doing covers by The Strokes and her popularity has also seen her do more covers from the likes of Radiohead and the Pixies. All bands that are right up the blanchy street. Plus these girls are loving their music which I like. It makes me happy that they are happy.

Let's start off with the Strokes cover that first introduced me to her. I will add the conflict of interest that I am in love with the bassist but the song is the real winner here. The Strokes always had great song lyrics and I think they come across better when the song is striped down to acoustic with a softer female vocalist. I think this is why her videos are so popular on Youtube.

12:51 The Strokes cover Inés Adam.

Ah one of my favourite Stokes songs. These guys just do it justice. Plus the bassist plays the solo which I have always like in music ever since The Chain by Fleetwood Mac and Seinfeld.

Barely Legal Cover By Pacifica

Barely Legal is another classic and I feel you can really hear the lyrics better with Ines singing this. Love the dresses as well by the way! Musical instruments and dresses are the future. I'm off to have a cold shower.

Hard To Explain Cover by Pacifica

Source
It is actually Hard to Explain why I like these covers so much but I do and I'm fine with that. Think the lyrics are just class in this song

I missed the last bus, I'll take the next train
I'll try but you see, it's hard to explain
I say the right thing, but act the wrong way
I like it right here, but I cannot stay
I watch the TV, forget what I'm told
Well, I am too young, and they are too old
The joke is on you, this place is a zoo
You're right it's true

So that's it for another Woche. As per usual I will throw in an aul Hive Basic Income to the winner of @ablaze 's competition. Giddy Up.
