Three Tune Tuesday. Drive Home Karaoke

avatar

Good evening ladies and gentlemen and today I will run you through three tunes I listened to last week that I quite liked. I am a big fan of having a one man car karaoke when I am coming back from long journeys and I do love a good power ballad to kick things off. I have an 80's playlist on Spotify that I throw on and some of the songs are timeless classics.
Let's start off with a great one. Best to only play this one on motorways or you will end up getting caught for speeding. The message is not a bad one either and quite a few people can relate.

Hold the Line - Toto.

Ah good old Toto with their 3 songs. Hold the Line, Africa and Rosanna are all classics. It's a toss up between Africa and Hold the Line here but I went with Hold the Line because you can really get into it with the lyrics and the punchy guitar. My favourite position is to put the car in cruise control, steer with your knees and go full on air guitar. The lyrics on the screen so I can see them while I drive. Many an overtaker has passed me out on the motorway in full swing but I give them a power nod as they pass me out.

Real Gone Kid - Deacon Blue

This song escaped me before the age of Shazam and I was like a mad man going around to people asking them what the song was where the lyrics kind of went like a siren wooo wooo woo wooo woo woo. But thankfully I was drinking in a pub one night in Las Palmas and the Spanish barmen knew his 80's music and my problem was solved. I have never left that song out of my sight since then and it's a good car song.

Elton John - Don't Go Breaking My Heart

If someone told me I would be into Elton years ago I would scoff at them but the man does grow on me. Some of his songs are excellent and the guy has been through the mill. His film/ musical is absolutely awesome and it really mixes all his music into a masterclass. I have always loved Don't Go Breaking My Heart and I'm Still Standing the best as they are real upbeat and good songs. I had to laugh during Covid Elton performed I'm still standing in his garden and I laughed as he sang the whole song through his nose. He must of had a hard day/ night just before it 😆. Here it is for giggles.

Anyway back to the my choice. Don't go breaking my heart. I sing both parts in the car by the way. :-D
Next time you are in the car give it a try. It takes all the stresses of everyday life away when you are blasting out an 80's classic.

So this is my three tune Tuesday for this week. Thanks to @ablaze for starting up this initiative and giving me an outlet to force music upon strangers which seems to be a past time of mine.

Can totally imagine getting done for speeding to this classic!! Hold the Line!!!!! Ya hold the feckin line on the speedo..

Ah Deacon Blue, I love their song Dignity, an auld favourite of mine, but Real Gone Kid a close second from the Deacon Blue stable...

I'd be the same with Elton John, he has definitely grown on me over the years and rightly so, he's a genius... That movie is on my to watch list, along with Queen one and the Elvis one.
