Did I Miss It?

I am sure I wasn't the only one who woke up on Saturday morning and wondered "what the heck is going on". Perhaps you are a night owl and you saw the dump happen in real time. No matter where you were, or what you were doing, it happened, and now here we are.

I jumped on Twitter, Discord, and Telegram Saturday morning to see if anyone was talking about it and surprisingly, all of those channels were pretty quiet. I know what the main stream media thinks caused it, but I was really hoping to see some insight from crypto insiders. There was none to be found!

So now I sit here, still trying to guess what might have happened to the markets, but even more I am struggling to figure out if I missed my chance to fully take advantage of this bull run.

Sure, I took out some gains here and there and I maximized some of my passive streams of income a bit more, but I really thought I was going to have at least two or three more weeks to make some more moves. If that isn't the case, then I feel like I have no choice but to label this bull run a failure for me.

I should have learned when we saw that initial bump in the markets back in May. I even swore I was going to do things different this time and not wait too long, but here I am.

I hope I am wrong and that this is just a "minor" dip on our way to some new all time highs before the bear market actually starts. It's not that I am afraid of the bear market, I know they are inevitable. I also know they are great opportunities to build your portfolio.

Like I said though, I had plans to put my self in a better position before it hit so I could fully take advantage. I wanted to move more gains into stable coins so I could buy back in when the eventual dip came. Seeing tokens like AVA at prices sub $2.00 has me wishing I really had a bundle of USDC or BUSD sitting in my wallet to buy more.

I really love the quote that has been kicking around over the past week. It goes something like "Whales are made in the bear market, they just don't realize it until the bull market". Feel free to replace "whales" with "fortunes" or whatever you want. It still holds true and has a lot of impact. At least for me.

Especially now that I am looking at the possibility that I am not ready for this bear market. Like I said, that is what scares me most, not that we are entering a bear market, but that I am not ready to take advantage of it.

It drives me crazy to think that I have some tokens I might be sitting on for the next two years that will not be earning me anything passively. That was my other goal besides having some stables stacked up to buy. I wanted to have multiple streams of passive income to "pad" my holdings during the next bear market.

I honestly don't know. Maybe this wasn't it... Maybe we still have a bit of a bull run left. I'd love that. Just don't let me make the same mistake this time that I did last time.

Promise me that!

Let me know what you think about the current happenings in the crypto markets in the comments. I look forward to reading your insight!

That the main fact about the crypto world the price is never stable and shouldn't be a surprise experiencing it being low or high we just have to keep hoping for a better and positive change in the coming years.

Hi @bozz,... I watched the dump in real-time even though it was 4 am here, .... 'surly this is the bottom of this selloff' i was saying to myself (at least three times), ... it actually had me wondering if a full-scale war had broken out between the big dogs ( pick a any of the following countries US / China / Russia / Pakistan / India ), ... thankfully nothing like that...another quote right now which stops me going bonkers in times like these is 'when in doubt, ... zoom out' (charts), .. hope you are well and we ride through this !!

Thanks, I hope you are well too. That is a good point about looking at the big picture. Overall, I am in a pretty good place, but I was hoping to maximize this period a bit more than I did. I guess I will just have to do better next time!

You can't take anything for granted with crypto. Only needs a few big movers to shift funds and the market tumbles. I'm happy enough that HIVE is doing better than some and we keep earning it anyway.

Yeah, it would be nice to see Hive hold over $2, but I can't really complain about $1.50. Much better than the $.20 we sat at for so long!

We should end the year much better than we started. I hope we can make more big strides in 2022. Need more people, more dapps and more engagement.

Some hypothesized the news out from Evergrande late Friday might have caused jitters in the market.

However, since the equity market seems to be holding up, it was probably just a typical crypto dump led by the futures market (if I had to guess).

Thanks for the info. I heard the common excuses like Covid and stuff like that, but you never know what you can trust these days you know...

Looks like most of the crypto gurus are clueless about the recent dump and it's natural to be this way since we have a different cycle. I don't believe crypto is still the slave of the four years cycles determined by the halving. 90% of the Bitcoin ever mined shall be reached in about a week, thus why would large players risk dumping too heavily just to buy back during a potential future bear market. I see it nothing more than market manipulation to grab cheap Bitcoin from weak hands. Don't get frustrated, different cycle.

Thanks for the input. That does make sense. I don't plan on doing much. Just waiting for PolyCub and IDO2 to come out at this point.

I sure hope it is just a small dip, but I have been having the same revelation in it all especially after yesterday. It went up for me, then went down and has been until current. Unlike you, I was fortunate to land myself some good capital on the dip but I don't plan to hold long and this possible bear market will make things quite complicated. Excited to see what happens and hopefully I come out better than I would've thought!

Btw I could text you when I personally see things down a ton but I don't think you'd appreciate your phone blowing up at 3AM lol.

I probably wouldn't even hear it! :) Depends on how many glasses of whiskey I have had I guess. There is still a lot of speculation swirling around, so who knows. I am glad you were able to take advantage of it.

Same as you, I just woke up surprised to see the market has gone downward. No idea of what caused it but I just hope this is just a short time dip :)

I hope so too. Either way, I will be here blogging away five or so days a week. I powered through the last bear market. No reason to do anything different this time around!

Yes, let's just make our days productive and accumulate more HPs and Hive too :)

Yes, it was a great surprise to see HIVE rise to over $3 and a not-so-good surprise to see it back to $1.60. BTC really took a dump too, I never thought it would go that low again. But I did capture selling a little HIVE at a high for BTC at a low so I locked in some of the gains. I never have much liquid HIVE because I power it all up, but I did sell some SPS airdrop for a few days to go the HIVE-BTC route.
Still we're in much better position now with HIVE over a $1, let's hope it goes on another upward trend and sets a new floor.

That is great that you were able to take some gains. I am the same way, I pretty much power up all of my Hive, so it is hard to take any profits from that pool of funds. I am hoping we still have a little bit of a bull market left before things turn cold.

Yeah.. You not alone. I did nothing. I may have bought a little garbage, but made no big moves. I think I am looking way down the line by Holdling my HIVE. Hoping for good fortune to pay off on that later on. I always suffer from TLM (To Little Money) 😆

Holding Hive is never a bad thing. I almost look at my Hive as a totally different kind of investment from everything else.

Good.. Because once the Bozz starts doubting Hive, I need to know! 😁
