Out with the old...

This weekend I finally started to do some clean-up in my Coingecko account. There are a variety of reasons why it took so long for me to get around to it, but as of this time and date, I can officially say I am done with that other blockchain.

Make no mistake, I was actually done with STEEM a long time ago, but this weekend, I finally removed the STEEM and SBD trackers from my Coingecko portfolio. It's not that I ever really cared how those tokens were doing, it was more about making sure Hive was doing better than they were.

For a long time, it wasn't. Of course as far as content and development, Hive has always been superior, but for whatever reason, STEEM and SBD continued to out perform Hive and HBD. Of course, SBD is still "outperforming" HBD, but can you really call it that? I mean sure, the price of SBD is quite a bit higher than HBD, but isn't the whole point of the token that it is pegged to $1? If that is the case, then HBD wins hands down.

Despite the pullbacks and corrections of the past month, our native tokens continue to outperform the competition. I think that is something to be proud of and I think it is the perfect reason to finally cut those ties that might still be holding you in the past.

STEEM has become more of an afterthought. I don't hate the chain. After all, STEEM is what helped me grow into the blogger and community member that I am today. STEEM helped fund my early entry in to WAX and opened a whole new world of NFTs to me. I do hate what STEEM has become though.

It has been a good years since I have even loaded the front page. I did load it the other day to show someone what it has become as I was explaining the roots of Hive to them. Other than that, I honestly have zero reason to ever visit the site again. I think I do still get some legacy SPS drips from originally having an account over there, but it is so minimal that it is almost pointless to deal with (like .001 per day).

I know many of you cut ties with that old chain right from the start and probably never looked back. I also know some of you still check the price from time to time. I don't blame you for that. I just know that personally I don't need that reminder on my feed every day anymore.

Hive no longer has anything to prove.

After more than a year and everything that is coming in the future, "Looks like we made it!"

I'm not telling you what to do, but, if like me you are still following that old chain on some of your price feeds, take some time and think about finally cutting ties.

You might not realize how therapeutic it can be to "take out the trash".

Think of it as very early Spring cleaning!

That's really nice and a way to make Hive a wonderful place to be.

I get some satisfaction from seeing Hive outperforming 'the other coin'. I have looked at their site and I see some people really milking it whilst they can. A few accounts get the bulk of the rewards whilst the rest scrabble for anything. I know some people on Hive copy their posts over (and to Blurt), but I expect most make more on Hive. If they gave up on the others that would make them even less attractive. I get that some are out to make anything they can, but having Hive do better will benefit them in the long run.

I was maximizing my curation over there for a month or two after the fork, but I eventually gave up on it. I wasn't posting anything, just upvoting. In the end it really wasn't worth it. Especially given the chance of being ostracized on Hive because of it.

My account is censored there and I'm not going to start another. I'm done with them.

To me Steem is like any other chain out there which I dont pay attention to. It is dead to me in the sense it holds no interest. I dont know why people insist on maintaining the correlation. Yes we forked from there but this is an entirely new system. The development at the base layer means much of the code was changed.

It is time to look ahead and stop trying to maintain the childish of trying to be better than Steem. It is a garbage chain just like Tron in my opinion and we just need to focus ahead. At least with the later, though, we are look at a highly ranked chain so there can be some sensibility to focusing upon moving up.

That said, I just focus upon Hive because that is what will lead to success. We have our own house to build here.

I don't disagree, but it is important to remember where you came from in order to avoid the mistakes of the past. Many people don't have to worry about that because they never used the old chain. For those of us that did, Hive means even more I think.

I'm just glad over the name. When the wife saw me looking up Steem she thought it was a gay hook up site.

I wasn't part of STEEM and I don't really see how the it is appealing either. All the games that I pay attention to are here and the development/community is also here.

It likely wouldn't make sense to those who weren't there before Hive.

Congrats on getting rid of the waste, from everything I've heard, I would've hated to be on that platform besides the money I'd get out of it. Hive is an amazing thing, its community driven and not just a place to cheat the system, and someday we will be on top and there will be no question debating the efficacy of Hive.

You can still go and see the other platform and look at the kind of stuff they are posting over there. It is really sad.
