RE: The Contenders In Hive's Everything App Race

I used Actifit for a while back in the day. My wife was even using it and doing some blogging at the time. There were some things about it that I kind of didn't like so I stopped using it as much. It has been forever since I logged in now. I am sure they fixed some of the things, but it was a huge turn off back in the day. Ecency is pretty awesome. They have a really good interface and it is my sole interaction with the chain when I am on my smartphone.

It shows how one can discount something and not return yet miss major advancements. Not saying that happened with Actifit but it is evidence of what we tend to do.

Yeah, for sure. I have a couple of projects on Hive like that. It's all good. We can't be invested in all of them anyway.

I too started using ecency a while back as my primary interface. The biggest thing gong for it is that it also has a decent mobile app. I've also played with Actifit on and off since its inception. The app itself seems pretty decent these days but I remember it having annoying quirks a while back too. It also has the advantage (if you consider it one) of being able to cross post to steem and blurt.

No, I don't really find that as an advantage. Seems like a good way to get on the radar of people who want to down vote me. I got tired of the spam and low quality content that was on Actifit. That is the main reason I left. I think I still have tokens though.

I guess this has been the debate forever though. I mean I don't see anything wrong with people sharing their daily actifit progress even if that is all they are sharing. The problem comes when such posts are overrewarded for whatever reason. At least one app (maybe dbuzz? or leo threads?) has instituted a rewards cap on posts since it is designed primarily for short content. Maybe actifit should do something like this. Though some people do use it to create longer posts.

I don't really see anything wrong with cross posting either. I understand why people would get upset with reposting the same content on the same blockchain to milk rewards but that's something different. The whole idea of crossposting, or even taking old content from a previous blog or something would be to reach a new or larger audience. If that is frowned upon it makes it seem more like an anti-social network.

I think the main issue would be with Blurt. They have done their best to run a hit campaign against Hive. It's one thing if you disagree and you want to quietly do your own thing, but to poke the bear just seems shady to me. I used to do pretty text heavy actifit posts, it just got to be too much for the rewards I was getting. I couldn't justify it. It think putting a cap is a great idea.
