Splinterlands Week Summary

Hello, Splintermonsters!

I hope you are having a great weekend. Today I wanted to write about not only one topic but instead a couple of Splinterlands-related ones since I'm all over the place and it feels like the game is becoming more and more interesting day by day.

So, without further ado, let's go!

The New ECR System

The first thing I want to talk about is the new Energy Capture Rate. Since it was live not long ago, my interest in launching Splinterlands has grown exponentially.

Not only I'm getting much more daily chests to open but the SPS rewards got from winning a battle have increased a lot.

I'm currently playing in Bronze and on the verge of stepping into Silver. Before the new system, my gameplay was somewhat mindless grinding. Because we could attack more I didn't pay that much attention to my line-up and used just one or two that I usually won with.

This of course led to losses which led to anger and that "next one I will win" -mentality. Meanwhile, ECR was decreasing and so were the rewards.

So, what about the new ECR system?

Since we now get to play fewer battles it has made me really think through my line-up and strategy. Winning a single battle now feels like a victory - just like it is supposed to.

I now have a great playing routine: 10 games in the morning(just the right amount!) then let it replenish and then play what's accumulated there in the evening.

This has then been reflected in other areas of the game. Getting more SPS has made me follow its price development more and more.

Also, getting more chest led to more Soulbound cards and this has been huge for me - feels like every day I'm discovering new combinations with these new cards. The feeling is the same as when I first started to play!

Speaking about Soulbound cards...

Great Brawl Battle

This is something that made me smile. I'm talking about combining Soulbound cards with different rulesets and strategies.

Soulbound summoners allow us to bring one gladiator monster to the battlefield. With this, I've learned some pretty awesome strategies by mixing gladiator, soulbound and regular cards. I just have to share this example of such a battle with you guys!

Roles they play in my plan:

Eternan Brune - removes 2 armor from opponent units so it'll be easier for Chimney to take down the weaklings in this Opportunity battle and have that Bloodlust moment.

Venari Marksrat - is about to die first because this is an Opportunity battle. I placed him in the middle so he will provide extra stats to adjacent monsters using the Martyr ability.

Chimney Wallstop - a key offensive unit. Because this battle includes the Opportunity ruleset, he will find the weakest link among the opponent ranks, destroy them and grow stronger after every kill because of his Bloodlust ability. Eventually, he is so powerful and fast that he has become unstoppable!

Acquiring Cards

Oh, yes. I've also been shopping again!

Nowadays there are two kinds of purchases I'm making, first ones are the cards I need in my gameplay and the second ones are cards I invest in - cards I believe will have demand in the future and therefore will hopefully increase in value.

In the first category, I made these buys:

  • Tarsa
  • Obsidian
  • General Sloan
  • Thaddius Brood

All Chaos Legion summoners that I need if a certain splinter is excluded when doing my daily battles.

I also bought Ice Pixie and Wood Nymph. The first one is a card I used to rent since I'm playing with Water splinter so often and there isn't a good substitute for a 2-mana magic monster there.

Wood Nymph is also a monster I rented occasionally and is a part of my Earth splinter strategy in which I use two tank healers, Goblin Psychic being the other one.

So, the cards I bought with an investment in my mind are:

  • Harklaw x 5
  • Pelacor Conjurer x 10
  • Pelacor Mercenary x 10
  • Djinn Chwala x 10

Harklaws were pretty priced at $0.98 and so were the Pelacors. To be honest, I bought Chwalas to increase my power since they are epic cards and add more power. Still, I do believe there will be demand for these someday because let's face it, it's a damn good tank unit.

Bonus Topic!

Here's something I also wanted to share and since it's kinda Splinterlands-related, no better place than here!

I've been playing around with AI applications a lot and also trading SPL cards a lot. Just recently I was multitasking and doing both at the same time when I decided to ask ChatGPT if it could write a program that would include the 5% fee and let me know how much I would make a profit.

Here's the conversation:

I then copy-pasted the code into Thonny and ran the program:

I know it's easy to calculate by yourself and so on but this was my first attempt to create a helpful tool with AI. So that in mind it's actually pretty cool and it encouraged me to try out something more complex next time.

Conclusion

I'm gonna keep it short this time but feel free to leave a comment, they are highly appreciated.

Thank you for reading!
