Unforgettable Untamed : Spark Pixies

This edition of Unforgettable Untamed is featuring Spark Pixies, one of those very first cards I pulled from the pack. This one used to be one of my most used ranged units back in the day but since then I find myself rarely picking it for battle.

Because of that, it's fun to let them wreak havoc again and to study if can I can find a new use case for the Pixies.

Lore

In the Burning Lands, the force of electricity is barely understood; it is considered a form of fire. These small but powerful living sparks bring fire through the natural electricity they carry. They are extremely fast, and as a group, they can burn a village in mere minutes.

Spark Pixies & The Team

As always, I have an example battle to show the things our unforgettable untamed can do. Besides that and to relive those good old memories I also chose a summoner from that golden era to fight along with the Spark Pixies.

PYRE was the first summoner ever that I pulled out of the pack so I have this kind of a special relationship with it.

His buff is to give all friendly units +1 Speed. Therefore, my main idea for this battle was to increase Spark Pixie's already good amount of speed and make them almost impossible to hit.

I also considered Tarsa but since Pyre is one mana point cheaper I went with it to get one extra monster.

As a tank unit, I chose one of my favorite low-mana tanks, the ANTOID PLATOON.

They have a decent amount of armor(2) and health(3), Antoid Platoon has one melee attack point and it's gonna stay that way since we don't have Tarsa here to boost that up. The Platoon is also not very fast(1 Speed) but Pyre will buff that a little.

What makes the Antoid Platoon a great little card is the Shield ability. Because of that, it will suffer reduced damage from enemy Melee and Ranged attacks.

On level 1 the RADIATED SCORCHER doesn't have any special skills and his stats are also a bit weak having one Melee attack point, 2 Speed, and 2 Health points.

He was chosen here to kinda protect the Sparked Pixies from ending up in the first position.

SPARK PIXIES have a Ranged attack of 2 points, they are very fast(5 Speed) but sadly they are also very fragile having only 1 Health point.

Gladly Pixies have the Flying ability which will give them an increased chance of evading opponent Melee and Ranged attacks.

My idea for this battle is to use Pixie's relatively good Ranged attack to wither down the enemy tank. I know it's a bit bold to put them in the last line where they are vulnerable to opponents' Sneak and Opportunity abilities. The main idea behind this is to simply trust their speed.

Ok, we are all set for the battle! It's going to be a glorious day. Now let's just hope that we are not up against The Forg...

Opponent Team

My opponent also chose Pyre to be their summoner so no introductions are needed there. Instead, let's check out what kind of danger this big guy could mean to us.

Indeed, my opponent decided to choose only one monster for the battle. However, that happens to be a formidable one. THE FORGOTTEN ONE.

This creature has a giant blade and good melee power of 4. It is not very fast(speed 2) but is built like a tank having 4 armor points and 8 health.

Forgotten One also possesses the Immunity ability making it immune to all negative status effects. We don't have to take that into consideration in this battle since there are no negative effects in play.

The Battle

ROUND 1

Spark Pixies are the fastest things on the battlefield so they got to deliver the first blow reducing Forgotten One's armor to 2. The forgotten beast then dismantled Antoid Platoons armor but the platoon retaliated.

ROUND 2

Pixies continued where they left off and the Forgotten One had lost its protection. Unfortunately, his blade also left the Antoid Platoon very weak with only 1 health point left.

ROUND 3

The Platoon was wiped out and it was time for Radiated Scorcher to step up. Well, we all knew how this was gonna go down.

ROUND 4

Forgotten One's health was reduced to 2 points by Pixies and the next one would have been lethal. Even though having the same amount of speed, the creature struck first putting our Scorcher to sleep. This left the Sparked Pixies in an impossible situation because in the front they couldn't attack anymore. Still, they managed to use their speed and dodge the blade. Twice.

ROUND 7

I don't know exactly what happened but the game skipped to round 7 in which the Pixies were finally destroyed. Perhaps they kept dodging the attacks throughout rounds 5 and 6? Anyway, our team put up a good effort but today the bigger was better.

The Result

Spark Pixies got to show off their incredible speed but unfortunately, that was all in vain because they ended up in the wrong place.

It's interesting to analyze this battle afterward, could I have won if I had chosen Tarsa as my summoner? The platoon would have been buffed with +1 so they would have done twice the damage, however, then I couldn't have enough mana for Radiated Scorcher. Let's not forget he did some damage too. Conclusion

Maybe my strategy could have worked against a different team or with slightly different options. Nevertheless, Spark Pixies can be a really good asset or a really frustrating piece of work. Depends on which side you are on. I remember wasting countless attacks on it but also remember these little creatures saving the day for me.
