Did we do enough , or should we be ashamed? #UKRAINE

This is a thoughtfuldailypost and I hope we all try to do something to help our fellow earthlings…..
The fact that what is possible in our world is so sad but brutal reality! Already more than three months, and exactly 100 days since we met president Zelenski , and our neighbour country Ukraine is in a state of war. And we were near a brutal war in Europe and attached countries. For me personally, war was a thing that came near for the first time in my life. Normally its only on the news, sad aswell but more far from our doorstep. We are not used to it, and the fact that one sick human mind desires to own a part of another country,
with killing people along the way made me sick to my stomach.
This freewrite came to paper ( read computer screen ) because I feel that some things are worth talking about. I saw on the news that there are problems all over the country, getting all refugees settled and all problems partly solved. I say partly because when you ask for instance the Ukrainians what they want for the future, not a single one of them wants to stay. That’s great and I love that. All want to go back to their beloved, but shattered country. Back to their love ones, to the houses they had to leave behind and their precious possessions. I love that patriotism, I know that they love all the people that want to help but hart is where home was. I get that. I get that!
Voluntary leaving a place called home is very different than running from the enemy. I read a blog by @beretha and how her life is there far away in Charkiv with her dogs, and is being missed by her and my friend Priyanarc.
The fact that we all want to help, but that some things are just hard to arrange is frustrating.
I solely want to talk about the situation here in Holland because I heard that in Germany the situation is different. My knowledge about other countries is zero. I hope so , but I just cannot imagine. I hope @manniman and his gesture in the comments on a blog by my friend are true. Than again would you flee to country three after you left your home in Charkiv? I am torn between so many opinions, not about that horrible man from Russia , but I am torn about what is good to do and whats not. The fact that we also have other nationalities here who had to flee their country makes that the Netherlands at the moment have about 35.000
People come from Ukraine, but the Netherlands have about 422.000 refugees inside our borders.

That is nice, but are we able to give all the people as much attention, houses and care they need?
And when we do , is it enough for them or are the expectations to high?
Is it fair that degrees in other countries can’t be used here?
Is helping out enough for both parties?
I think we will never know all the answers and personally I do all by hart. The fact that I see that the Hivers I helped are getting help from others now, even a woman’s who is a volunteer and a therapist so thats great. Better because she is near. You hivers all vote and send hive, we all can make the difference. The fact that I get DM’s what to get the needy is also great. And eventhough people who have a refugee status, love the fact that help is there.
So I guess I must be proud of what I can do , off what others do and what the dutchies in general did three months ago ,
and the government is still doing. There are still things that should change. The national refugee fund, with a historic and genourius amount given by most all the dutchies is over 208 million euro.
Yet there is so much still in the account instead of spend. We need so many things, housing is most m]needed. I also think there might be some money wasted on wages for people in organisations that promised to support but thats always the case I hear. I don’t like that.
I love the Red Cross, the food banks , the vluchtelingen work and the counties and dutchies pulling together.
I just heard that both @priyanarc and @blind-spot have a contract and both started a job. Thats great ! I am glad that I maybe added a little comfort and help to the people that need it more than ever.
The fact that a new job
and a new place
are on the horizon,
is
PERFECT !
We will see what is in the future, I hope the war is ended soon,
Than the help can be spend more building a great and beautiful country !

We should have sent them thermal cameras and Tactical gear for their battlefield, but instead, a bunch of pacficied dipshits who wouldn't last 30 seconds in a gun fight sent $$$ just like they think you can fix poverty with $$$ they are wrong.

Thank you so much Brit, you have done more than enough for us and that means a lot. The job I am doing is more like voluntary work for Ukrainians and I am happy with it. At least I have started doing something rather than doing nothing. Today I heard my city Kharkiv is not doing good, a school was destroyed, continuous bombing happening and I hope Beretha is safe. Tomorrow I will call her for the update. The Netherlands is doing a lot but they are confused too, I guess municipalities/government still don't know what to do with this huge number of refugees...
Nope and all is understandable but very frustrating from the side line. The fact that simple changes can be a solution in the end on local grounds. But like in the bigger picture political views are considered and maybe needed it still sucks
Well, I stand by my word. If any refugee wants help to permanently settle in the region of Munich and is willing to put me in charge of arranging communication with the authorities or hiring companies, hit me and I'll do what needs to be done.
Of course, only for Hivers, cuz this is my community and I care about my people.
You rock but I did what you are writing and burocratsy is a thing ! Politics is a thing and there are so many all with needs some with special and extensive needs. It's a task, and are we doing enough? No because there is never enough ! But we are doing the best in a very bad war situation and that is good but I wish it would be better. It frustrating to see. And I know for sure there are hivers in Germany fled Ukraine so hopefully your gesture is picked up and you can do your share ! Thank you
I had some refugees working for me during the last crisis, so I know about the ways that the system is working. It's not easy to get everything right, there are a lot of papers and appointments to be honored and it takes patience. The amount of people involved is very large as well. Social workers, Agencies, Insurance Employees, City Management, and in some cases psychological help is advised as well and if it's advice by the social worker of the city then it's mandatory.
Starting a new life guided by a state refugee program is nothing you do lightly. But it's not scary, just a lot of stuff to do.
You know when I was in Poland I told Pri that everything, EVERYTHING, that the host countries do for us is a bonus. The only thing they had to do was open up the borders for us to get out of the warzone. Anything after that was a "bonus". I still stand by that statement I made months back. It is incredibly difficult to deal with this situation. Economically, morally, hell even food shortage is becoming a real issue now. I spoke to some people at gemeente yesterday and vluchtelingenwerk today and it is very apparent that there is just so much going on that nothing is a "for sure". The refugee pressure was high already and it is getting even more challenging now that there are Ukrainians. We all have a responsibility towards each other as Ukrainians and as refugees to our hosts, too. Maybe that is why it doesn't hurt me to volunteer wherever I can and however possible. Really, thanks for all that you re doing. and to answer your first question: no, you should be proud and are appreciated.
