but i reckon 80% of the time she holds it and goes within 5 minutes of coming back in 🙈 Please share your wisdom fellow dog lovers!

Hi,

my advice would be to take her out every 30 minutes if you can. You need patience and the will to wait as long as it takes, unless there is really really bad weather lol. When the business is happening connect a word to it and praise of course. Stretch the interval over time.

She will learn to go outside through this way. How old is Coco? A puppy's bladder is connected with certain hormones and to be able to hold it develops over time. That's why they need those pee and poop offers in a short interval at the beginning.

When Coco is having an accident inside don't punish her. The best thing to do is to ignore it and just clean up silently.

Coco is really cute though... 😊

Wow, that's excellent advise. Thanks so much for taking the time and effort to reply with such helpful ideas, I really appreciate it and we will try this method.

How old is Coco?

She is 5 months old.

5 month old you def potty train her with the interval method then.

Her hormone system is still developing and therefor her sphincter. If you take the time to let her out every other minute at the beginning it won't take too long for her to understand it. Naturally a dog will avoid messing up his own home while growing up.

By ignoring and cleaning up a pee/poo accident inside silently you teach her that there is no attention/punishment following it. This helps Coco to understand that peeing outside brings praise and she will not develop peeing/pooping inside for attention.

She is still a puppy and just starting to learn through try and error. You have to be her guide now and with patience, empathy and love you will have a great dog :).
