Cenote Azul, Playa Del Carmen, Quintana Roo, Mexico.

There’s so many different beautiful Cenotes here in Mexico and they are so much fun to go to. At times like this when it’s super hot here, but most beaches are so full of seaweed that we can’t go swimming it’s so refreshing to go for a day out to one of the cenotes.

I’ve been to a few different one’s while I’ve been here and they are all so amazing! All given a different experience. The latest one I went to was Cenote Azul. It was only a short bus ride from the centre of Playa Del Carmen, 150 pesos for the day and they had several different cenotes.

Once we paid at the entrance we had to all take a shower before entering and then we were directed where to go. It was only a short walk from the entrance and we were at our first cenote. Following the path there were several different cenotes, some very shallow where people were sitting with there feet in the water to let the fish eat the dead skin off there feet, and some deeper. They were small enough and didn’t have loads of people at them, so they were definitely the more peaceful spots.

At the end of the path was the big one, which was packed with people. It was by far the most fun out of them all, I guess that’s why everyone went to that one. There was a small platform to jump off and across from that at the other side of the cenote, was a much bigger jump off the top of the rocks. Of course I had to try it !! From the bottom looking up I was a bit hesitant at first just because it was so busy, I guess I felt everyone would be watching, but I got over that pretty fast and went up there and just had fun.

Jumping off the rocks into the beautiful clear water felt so good, it was soo much fun! After I started I just had to keep going back up to jump. There was nearly constantly a crowd up there taking turns jumping. Some people diving, or doing front flips, it was awesome!

Beside this cenote there was another section that looked a lot shallower and a bit more chill, there were loads of people just sitting having a foot spa, I did try to let the fish bite my feet but I didn’t like the feeling to much especially when the bigger fish bit them haha.

Overall I really enjoyed the day out and it's a really beautiful place,I think its good to have the option of spending your time at the quieter ones if you just want to chill out, or if you want something a bit more exciting to go to the bigger one.

Cenotes are natural deep-water wells (sinkholes). The younger one's are caves, and older one's are semi open or open cenotes, as a result of the cave falling into itself.
It sure is a lot of fun! :)

That looks fantastic! It brings back memories of Crystal Pools here on our side in Cape Town. Large rock pools with ledges to jump from.

Unfortunately, there aren't fish to enjoy a foot spa with, but it seems like that won't be an issue for you 😅
