Am I Making A Mistake With My Splinterlands Rental Cards?

So if you follow me or read any of my posts at all you know that I bought some starter packs when steemmonster came out and I never played. Well, until a month ago. I have about 100 or so Alpha Cards in my collection. And while I feel like I missed out, I'm still pretty lucky to be around $2200 in value at today's prices.

But I'm new to gameplay and when I started I couldnt understand why the game gave me free cards to play with. I get it now, but for example, I am playing with my Alpha Arlic and the game gives me a free one.

I am trying my hand at renting out my duplicate cards and earn a little DEC daily for my trouble. Ive realized that renting out my cards reduces my collection power during my season but I am so bad at Splinterlands I really don't think I can battle my way out of Bronze II or Bronze I at the highest.

So I'm wondering if I should be playing with any of my Alpha cards or should I just rent them out and play the free ones during this price hike. I figured out that the only 2 cards that I play that aren't free ones are the Ant Miner and Shadowy Presence. Both are reward cards and if I keep those I could realistically slide by on the free cards and rent all my alphas.

When I battle I never make more than 1 DEC per battle and I think I get around 40 to 60 DEC a day renting my additional cards putting me at nearly 200 a day on the rental market. When you stink at play and don't have cash to buy cards, thats pretty good daily DEC. I think the additional rental income would be more than I could possibly play each day.

It feels weird to not play with my own cards and I rarely choose the right methods for earning so there are probably holes in my logic. So what do you think? Am I making a mistake not renting out all my alpha cards? Let me know your thoughts in the comments.

Personally I would absolutely rent and maximize you're gross and then you can continue playing and winning more...

Man I really should have done a card when they offered it to me. I really should have invested a bunch back in the day but I'm glad this has been such a success.

Awesome job man absolutely awesome.

well I left a ton on the table by not playing. I tried to play when it started but couldn't figure it out. I bought a few starter packs for next to nothing but would have had accumulated some assets doing daily quests. I know me and I would have done them daily. But, I couldn't figure them out and it always ate at me but that on me I guess. I have earned some since I started playing about a month ago. DEC and SPT have value so it is getting more active in Hive again. There is still time, Chaos packs are coming and tons of new players hopping on board. There are chances to earn.

Yeah I've got a pack but don't know and got tons of other stuff going on. Like the news.

Wonder if this Afghanistan civil war is gonna get china involved. Or if Pakistan falls.

I hear you. It depends who can make money on the war. They might just let them eat each other alive for awhile and then swoop in. Its a very sad situation. Still suffering the consequences of WWI lol.

World War I started with this big huge conglomerate of alliances.

Funny how history is repeating itself

This is the way to go @cflclosers. Don't forget the more DEC you hold, the more SPS you get. Buy good cards with DEC which will give you more power, hence more SPS via Airdrop. Rent those cards and get DEC and the cycle continues. Ultimately stake your SPS to make more SPS. Keep compounding everything until you make shit ton of money and become a millionaire out of NFT games. 🤑🤑

That's my plan because I suck at playing too. 😂😂 Let's see where I go with it. All the best to you and Happy renting.

so the trick then would be to know the good cards to get for your formula to work. That's not part of my knowledge base yet. But I get the other parts lol.

Well its highly dependent on your rank. I usually get like 20-30 DEC per fight unless the DEC pool is really full so if your rank isn't as high, I would suggest just renting the cards out until you get a hang of the game.
