What We Can Do To Move The POB Community Forward | My Own Proof Of Brain

This past week I've been really silent in the POB community and it ended up affecting my general engagement on hive because most of my friends are in this Community and it is one of the communities I admire the most. I wouldn't say I lost hope in the community but I'll just say I wanted to take a break and do more of reading and silently curating.

The POB has a problem whether or not we're going to admit it. Some people might not see it as a problem but a lot of others see it as a problem. Whatever your view may be as long as it's geared towards the betterment of this community, that's what matters most.

I noticed something this week and I'm going to share my own views on what I noticed.

First off, I noticed that the engagement is really dying in this Community. Whether or not we'll like to attest to this fact, it is actually clear. If you've been really observant you'll notice the the #pobtalk that used to thrive so much is now struggling in terms of activity and engagement. There's really no eagerness or vibe in the various discussions on a daily basis. Sometimes it just feels like there's not enough drive to bring about meaningful conversations.

I don't know why this is so, but I'm guessing that the #pobtalk should look for days to implement some certain kind of changes, it doesn't have to be the same routine everytime. Today might be a day where, everyone is asked to know five things about the first person that comments under their comments, or there could be fun topics raised for discussion, atleast it'll be an added attraction and users would be looking forward to such days.

I also noticed that the #pobstreet which is an amazing avenue for Community members and community owner to interact on how to grow the community forward, is lacking in terms of activity. What do I mean, they're way too few people talking about what needs to be done to move this community forward and I noticed that most of the big names in the POB hardly even engage in this talks. I know most of them might be busy and all but I feel that when the ones who have a greater stake and a lot of say in the community are quiet about what's going on in the community, how then do they expect the little fishes and newcomers who have hardly or no say in this Community development to engage in talks about community development.

They can continue giving their opinions and at the end of the day they'll be no change or implementation. It becomes really tiring and discouraging most times. Then, I also noticed that some people are scared to air out their views for fear of being marked for constant downvotes from people that'll disagree with them. It really is heartbreaking and I write this post with a little bit of disappointment.

When I joined this community I was told it was a place where you get accepted for who you are and you get a voice, you get a chance to express yourself more freely than in other platforms. I know that, it's not possible anywhere and some necessary steps were taken to rid the activities of frauds but I believe that they can still be room for anyone to air their views. Not everyone thinks the same way and my view might be entirely different from yours, that's what makes us amazing in our way.

I must give kudos to Mineopoly for his recent game the #Greedyyellowbird even though I've not been able to really participate in it. It's actually a great way to bring activity in this community. If we have more initiatives like that from big whales or any one willing to to part of these initiatives, it'll interest the rest of the community to participate. It can happen, short games that wouldn't require too much and would still at the same time guarantee rewards is a plus.
I'm glad with the recent development about getting a use case and also the introduction of NFTs for the POB and I'm glad the community leader thought of such an initiative. I've noticed there's been a lot of cry for the activeness of the leader in the community and I must also agree that it is necessary. I don't like to compare because I feel every one has their own issues and personality but I'll still suggest that the community leader picks a day for interaction. It could be something like Sundays With Proofofbrainio and it'll be days to dive into the mind of the community leader.

Every sheep needs a Shepard to guide them on the right part to follow and I feel that a leader would be nothing without his followers. Let us feel the impact of our amazing leader in this community. I've always wondered what the leader would say when he reads a great post. Wouldn't it be nice to know if the leader actually likes his coffee hot or cold. Any how it is, I'm pretty sure that the leader of this Community is indeed wise enough to make decisions that'll help this Community moves forward even though I suggest he mustn't do it alone.

They're a lot of ways to move this community forward, and I'm pretty much appreciative of the wonderful set of people that have been working tirelessly to ensure that this community is ideal enough for us all. I must say I love you all and I hope that you'll continue to find the strength to move this community forward.

I don't have the answers to everything, neither does Scholaris or funshee, but with our hearts combine together and our heads joined together I believe we can make exploits and perform wonder. I trust it can be very possible and I'm hoping we all join our hands together to restore this great Community towards it's former glory and gear it towards greatest.

This post in no way promotes any body against the other. I just wanted to clear my head and appeal for us to be steadfast in community development. It also in no way welcomes any sentiment or call for disunity.

This not only refers to the proofofbrain. I'm sure many other communities experience these situations. Your post was really enlightning...

I really don't know what the problem is and I'm pretty sure when the prices start going up we'll be seeing a lot of more inactive accounts created, taking up space and adding little or no value to this space.

I'm glad I did something, thanks for your comment dear

Maybe proofofbrain coffee house or something like that. We could even have a stand up POB concert !LOL

I'm usually busy on Sunday but I think the initiative would spill over to Monday.

Maybe we can give out free !PIZZAand !BEER

Do you know how to contact proofofbrain on discord. Maybe you can propose this to him.

Proofofbrain coffee house sounds nice but then I don't even know if he likes tea or coffee, lol. Yes, stand up comedy is the way to go, it'll have a lot of funny interactions.

Yeah sure, it'll surely spill over.

Now that sounds like a mix of fun and food, it's a great idea. I wonder if he likes beer too.

I don't know how to contact him because I haven't tried. But then If you know a way. Tell me 💪

The downturn on POB is due to the fall in the price of the token, coupled with the recent cleansing of the proofofbrain community from spammers and plagiarists. I want to mention that this is not unique to proofofbrain as I have noticed the same for other communities. The solution: new entrants.

yes, I agree the leaders need to be proactive, but I am also of the option that we are also leaders ourselves and can contribute meaningfully to the growth of the community

Yeah, I noticed how much the price has fallen and i must say it's a welcome development because it'll help remove the ones who just came for the gains alone. I understand that very well now but even if we bring new users we'll have to give them reason to stay, that's why I recommended a little change in some of our norms.

Very true, we all contribute phenomenally to the growth of this space.

I'm glad to hear your feedback @nonsowrites

This is a great and enlighten post, we all need to rise up and continue to support this community.

Sunday with proof of brain or weekend with proof of brain sound good.

This is a shame. Unfortunately this is how the game is rigged. It's also good to note that it's not only the threat of downvotes that change peoples behaviors. The thought of not receiving an upvote is just as damaging. When the vast majority of a community is focused on siphoning all the value that they can from it for personal survival, the mindset soon shifts too...

"how can I keep the big stakeholders happy, so that I can feed my family"

I can understand 100%. I have had to withdraw POB over the past few months to help with my situation. It's been a blessing, so I do get it and hold no judgements (unless people are really taking the piss, like the group that @nonsowrites rumbled recently).

It doesn't take a genius to work out where freedom of expression and freedom of speech size up on the importance chart when this mindset becomes the only one available.

I left this comment (https://www.proofofbrain.io/proofofbrain/@calumam/r2kg29) for @firstborn.pob yesterday which has links to the Ongoing Discussion Thread series that I started in the early days of the platform. I don't have the time to continue this, but I am happy to pass on the torch and assist with formatting, design, and getting the idea rolling again if someone wants to take charge.

(I'm not flush with sponsorship capabilities at the moment, but I'll get the posts seen and engaged when they're published).

Yeah, you're exactly right. The fear of not receiving upvotes can be daunting, afterall they're reasons why we chose to be part of this space and being able go get passive income is top of the list.

When the vast majority of a community is focused on siphoning all the value that they can from it for personal survival, the mindset soon shifts too...

This is a normal phenomenon in the world today, and truely no one can be blamed. I really get your point, sometimes we just have to do what we have to do just for survival.

Thanks @calumam , I'll surely check out those posts and if it feels like something I can take up..I will gladly.

Thanks for sharing your views here, well appreciated

You have rightly mentioned about #pobtalks. It was a great initiate and drove a lot of engagement but off late, it has almost died, mostly because of lack of any substantial and noticeable rewards.

@Mineopoly has introduced this classic yellowbird game which sets the community to fire. I remember initially when it started, it took it more than a week to reach the highest number of comments and sometimes, it didn't even make it. But this time, we reached 71 comments within 3 days only which is great. It's a great initiative and you must participate. Warning, I'm a tough competitor there :P

Yeah you're Right, without the promise of a reward it because less competitive and there's no drive to engage in the talk. But most people forget that it's still a great way to engage with other people.

Lol!, Don't worry, I'm not looking to take your crown champ. I've hardly had the time to really join the game but I'm looking forward to a time I will eventually join. So be ready!
The game is growing by the day and I believe it'll grow a lot more than expected.

Thanks for your comment dear

Sadly I have noticed that when a token value is down, engagement seems to die off.

But the reality is this can be the best time to continue creating, engaging and curating.

From a personal perspective, I have been extremely busy with work and have been unable to engage or create as much as I would like, but I always curate.

I do hope things start picking up @chincoculbert because #pob is a great community, with great people, one that I enjoy using regularly.

Maybe we need to open a discussion on how we can get #pob back on track.

Yeah it's quite unnecessary, but it's the normal order of the day. Every one is chasing after profit and some don't even want to work to earn these profits.

You're right it's the best time to make the best use of the community, to gain audience and to build relationships. It's the best form of sowing.

I understand what you mean..I've also been busy too and it can be hard to engage. Keep doing what you're doing bro..

That would be a great idea. .we just need to profer possible solutions

I can't agree less with you.
The impact of our leaders are not really felt.
When I got on the platform at first, I thought that I'd get to interact continuously with the people that are leader. I guess things didn't turn out as expected.
