Typically when referring to strains I and many other people likely first think of Marijuana. The definition of a plant strain or a strain of a particular plant is as follows - A strain is a designated group of offspring that are either descended from a modified plant (produced by conventional breeding or by biotechnological means), or which result from genetic mutation.

Cannabis and Kratom

Cannabis & Kratom have allot in common with one another for starters there's a multitude of variations or types that have been selectively breed from just 3 progenitors. For marijuana it is sativa, Indica, and ruderalis (Hemp) but also where auto flowering traits come from. Kratom has 3 different color veins from 3 slightly different varieties of Kratom. Mitragynine is just one of several different active alkaloids produced in Kratom and is present in all 3 colors red, white, and green.
Like cannabis all having THC and CBD in varying levels (this includes hemp) jus some have higher levels than others .

Alkaloid definition -any of a class of nitrogenous organic compounds of plant origin which have pronounced physiological actions on humans. They include many drugs (morphine, quinine, caffeine, nicotine) and poisons (atropine, strychnine)

THC is also a alkaloid literally the list is endless.

Strains

Each plant also has a variety of Strains produced for a variety of reasons artificially and naturally. Many of Kratoms Strains have evolved from necessity due to its growing environment variations from strain to strain. This is why Kratom has many of its strains however recently many types of hybrids have been produced due to Kratom and it's rise in popularity.

Red vein

Within the red veins, there are considerable differences in the effects and properties. Some strains such as the Red Thai or the Red Vein Borneo have a sedative effect while others like the Red Sumatra produce an elated mood. As with the other types of kratom that, the effects depend on the dose. The red vein produces in small doses a stimulating effect, but overall are the red vein strains are used to promote peace and tranquility.

White vein

White vein kratom is known as a stimulant and positive mood enhancer.
White kratom is increasingly taken instead of coffee (caffeine) for alertness, concentration and cheerfulness. Also having several different strains such as Borneo, Bali, and meng da. Many of the strains are named for the region it was initially came from.

Green vein

Green Vein Kratom can best be described as somewhere in between the red and white kratom strains. It is a mild energy booster that can brighten one up.

People who have experimented with it report that it helps them to enhance alertness and focus, to get in the "flow". The green vein strains are more subtle than the red or white veins. In general, they can be useful in treatment of pain and other discomforts, precisely because the green veins do not lead to drowsiness, which is often caused by other analgesic supplements.

Hybrids and blends

Conclusion

Kratom is a Nootropic aka a smart drug however many people have abused it in recent years giving it a bad image. You can not overdose on it alone literally there is no cases like Marijuana . Most haven't heard of it out side of sensationalism posts on Facebook. I have personally been using it for years now and I have Kratom to thank for getting me of the pharmaceuticals the doctors had me on. Through Kratom and cannabis I was able to treat the pain from 2 herniated vertebrae torn rotator cuff arthritis degenerative disk disease. Ailments that typically would require extremely strong pain medication including morphine and oxycodone. Kratom could potentially save life's like cannabis and i believe is deserving better treatment.
