Water Activities in Havelock Island

avatar

In my previous post Havelock Island is truly the Queen of Islands, I have gone to two of the 3 beaches in Havelock. The last and only beach is Elephant Beach which holds the top position in tourist activities in Havelock beaches. It is popular because of its serenity, clear water and as well as water activities.

There are two ways to go to the Island, via Boat and next by trekking. We have chosen the trekking option which is around 2.6 Kms and in between, you have to pass a place where you will get water up to your knees. The trekking takes you through the dense tropical jungles, and because of that, there is a time that you can visit the beach from 8 AM to 3:30 PM only.

The beach is an ideal destination for water sports and for leisure tours i.e. just stay there and enjoy the serenity. The island has a rich coral reed and thus it has amazing underwater marine life and that's why people do try to visit here just to see that rich marine life. I would say it is one of the best beaches in the whole Andamans and Nicobar Islands.

The beach has seatings where we can sit and enjoy the splendid view, and since it was a white sand beach you can actually see the clearer water out here. The beach has attracted from the first sight itself where you can easily see the corals, as well as the surroundings, are great for getting some great photos. We have to ask the ladies of our group to stop taking more photos after taking around 100s of photos at the same location.

Each and every corner of the beach is providing us so good location to shoot that you never wanted to go to the actual beach and just click photos as much as you can. To be honest we have not seen such a nice looking beach in our whole life as well as the clear water which is too good.

There are a lot of water sports and activities was happening on Elephant beach and one of them was Sea Walk. Since I had a kid with me, I have asked my wife to go and experience the rich marine life by walking inside the sea. Sea walk or sea bottom involves going deep down to the bottom of the ocean and walking around and seeing different fish and sea plants. You can experience the rich marine life by just going inside the water and seeing different coral, fish and other things.

My wife really liked it. She has shared her experience and said that it was once in a lifetime experience and I am glad she has enjoyed it.

We have found some water creatures too in the water.

There was only one activity that involved the kids and that is Glass Bottom. In the glass bottom, the kids can see the marine life by just staying in the boat and seeing the ocean through the glass. It is perfect for people who don't want to go inside water or get wet. The boat will be fitted with a dense glass at the bottom which will helps you to see corals and fishes under the sea.

My daughter has enjoyed it a lot because she can see so many fishes inside the water as well as this was the only activity she can do.

Next, I and my wife both have done Snorkelling, which is a practice of swimming on the water with a diving mask and a breathing tube called a snorkel and you can see the marine life through that driving mask. This was the most popular option to see the marine life who are afraid of doing sea walk or Scuba Driving. Elephant beach is famous for snorkelling because of the coral reefs which can be seen very easily and witness the beauty of it. You can also see exotic marine life species like colourful fishes, snakes and other species.

I have also taken granulated wheat with me in my hand and was feeding the fishes and because of that a lot of fishes were coming to me and thus I was getting good photos. There was a lot of Sergeant fish and most of those fishes were coming to me when I was feeding. Though I have seen the Nimo fish too as well as its hideout or its home. There was a lot of fish I can able to see from the face mask and the coral. It was too beautiful to see all these things which we have never imagined to be so beautiful.

Overall it was a good day in terms of our trip, we had so much fun. I must say that we have to spend a lot of money to do these activities but every penny was worth the enjoyment or the experience we had.
